Arizona wants to criminalize internet trolling
At first, I had some level of hope that if someone was ceaselessly bullied, there may be criminal retribution. Cyberbullying is quite nefarious, and has had a lot of bad reprocussions. Bullying, in general, is quite a long-winded fight that many have lost the fight against, and history has given us examples to it being a true crime that we simply overlook because it's commonplace. The idea of such a law is stupendous to those of us who have seen bullying in our lives, and who remember such stories as Columbine. I'd stand by such a law
But, according to the language of the law, I would be spending the rest of my life in prison, simply for my use of vulgar obscenities, and my mild harassments to coworkers and friends who enjoy it as much as I enjoy throwing it at them. I couldn't say "Hey fucker!" to my friends any more, and I couldn't tell somebody that they're full of shit, because that would be a double whammy. The Politics thread here on Rockpage would be evidence in court for 85% of us to be imprisoned for ages!
Long and short of it,... I like misconducting ludely online in a mild way. The desire to take that bit away is far separate from their misconstrued take on the bullying they're trying to bring a stop to. And what's even more funny is, going by that law, you're soon to face a criminal reprocussions for the internet, but the real world occurances will still happen, and probably be even bigger than they once were
Much to my chagrin, this law isn't stopping bullying, but actually stopping the way the internet world revolves! Even one of the comments tells fully how harsh this law is... "I thought the only purpose of humans, was to annoy everyone else. If I can no longer annoy people, what will I do for fun? They've already taken away dwarf tossing."
