Oh, my Lord!!! I was super-busy yesterday, and didn't log on, one of maybe 3 days a year I don't check Rockpage every few hours (addicted, thanks again, JP) and you all jump right in!
Thanks all, for the well-wishes. Jimi Hatt remembers a very special nickname, Ron remembers that Sarah and I have the exact same tattoo in the exact same place, and Lonewolf doctors a pic of me in spandex (that's my body, not my face    ).
But JP finds a classic pic I never knew existed. That photo takes me back, boy. Look at the sharp fashion sense... spandex borrowed from bassist, Cub Scout neckerchief, power-shag haircut, girlfriend's Flashdance belt, holding the mic in a way countles rappers would later emulate... oh, yeah, I'm what the teenagers call a "hott boi."
And look at the gear in the background: a Marshall head with a Sunn cab, and giant Voice Of Theater horn-loaded cabinets 14" from the singer, in a room the size of my kitchen! (I didn't understand why we got so much mic feedback!) Also, our home-built amp rack in right behind the speakers, look at that pro cabling job. Even the "strap lock" on Doug Forshey's silverburst Les Paul... replace the strap button with an eye-screw, and use a snap-hook... he got that from Brian Forsythe of Kix. Ahh, the trip back in time.
Thanks, all. It makes being a year older just a little bit better, hearing from your buds.----->JMS

A pillsbury dough boy, wearing zebra spandex, sportin a mullet, with the macho hanky around the wrist. This is stumpy the spandex mullet clown. He knows all about everything. Don't dare argue metal, music or politics with this clown.

[sarcasm] Thanks for the heads up, undercoverjoe! In the future I'll also be certain to dig up past threads in which everyone was being genuine (including yourself) and proceed to defecate on them by making ingenuous comments because we can all clearly see that you are just pissed that he's never going to give it up to you and your old dick.

We all know you want him, but I'm sure Seniormatch.com is a much better place for you to be trolling for slightly younger dudes than yourself. [/sarcasm]

This is way overboard. Just because you don't like someone doesn't give you a reason, or right, to dig up an old thread and smear him. There are a lot of things I don't agree with Johnny about, but I would never smear him. He has a right to voice his opinion, whether I, or you, like it or not.

I just realized that.

I wrote a negative post, then deleted it because I didn't want to hijack the birthday thread. So now I'll repeat it.

The (too) far right has literally been programed to hate. What scares me is the rage exhibited and he carries a gun. Should we bullied into oblivion ?

Come on man,...the too far left hasn't been programmed to hate? Like most extremists, I hear just as much hate rhetoric from the far left as from anybody. Can you seriously think that the far left hasn't been programed to hate anyone who has more material possessions than them? That the left hasn't exploited and promoted hatred in race relations for its own ends? Don't turn your opinion of Joe being an asshole into a platform for political opportunism. It doesn't work. I'm not agreeing with what Joe did here, but I don't think it's fair to exploit the situation either.

As far as being afraid, don't be. I've been around Joe in plenty of situations where a firearm is present. I've also been around him when he's angry and a firearm is still present. Angry or calm, I've never seen him handle a firearm with anything but safety and respect for its potential. I've NEVER seen Joe use a firearm to bullly ANYONE. Don't program people to needlessly fear for some stupid political agenda. Like the wise muppet said, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

I've tried to stay out of the political shit on Rockpage by using the old adage "if you don't like it, don't read it.". I came on this thread thinking (like others) that it was Johnny's birthday. Once I read the thread, I can't keep my mouth shut.

Joe, you and I have known each other for quite a few years now, shared many a great conversation and cold beers and I never had a problem with you. Still don't, in person.

But this was really a dickbag move. If you and Johnny don't share the same politics, fine. If you want to argue on the internet, fine, whatever. But to go digging up old threads just to make personal insults on someone who you don't agree with shows a complete lack of class. I'd like to think that my friend is better than that. I'm really dissapointed.

You and Johnny are both people that I respect and consider good friends. But really man, come on.

Remember....

You forgot to put in a jab about working part-time retail.

You have to admit, the picture is goofy as hell, though. I think JP originally posted it as such, and I fully accept what I used to be like. When that picture was taken, everything I had in the world fit in my Chevette. I was unemployed. I slept on friend's couches. I literally didn't know where my next meal was coming from.

And Ol' Stumpy seldom went more than 3 days without getting laid. :safe:

Spandex was possibly the smartest thing a dude in my position could have done, and I'd do it again. My friends all know I'd have worn a tutu if it got the results I got.... I mean LOOK at me.

Thanks to everyone who went to bat for me on this little thread, but it really bothers me zero. It took a long time to be comfortable in my own skin, but I think we all have goofy pics from our past. The crap Huey said was just typical Huey stuff, it's all he's got.

I would give Joe the shirt off my back. Ask if would do the same.

He admitted his friendship was phony. Pretending to get along with someone just to hear good music ? Yes, he hates, and I don't know anyone on the left that carries a grudge like some right wing nuts.

I listen to Limbaugh nearly every day. I recognize hate.

No we liberals have no problem with the wealthy having material things. It's Rush, Fox etc. that drill into your head that liberals envy wealth.

EDIT: You likely recognize that Joe's hate is totally political, so yeah, I brought up politics. If I kissed up to Joe telling him how smart he is for being Libertarian he wouldn't hate me. Same for Johnny.

I love all people, beyond their politics. I believe you are of the same cloth. But there are some who hate based on political persuasions. We've talked before, people are multi-faceted. I focus on the good facets. Joe only sees one facet and if he doesn't like it he is blind to any other facet. I feel sorry for him. Life is easy when you focus on the goodness in people which is EXACTLY what Libertarianism IS, Allowing the good in people to rise to the surface. Try and teach him the good focus - the good side - of Libertarianism.

Yeah Joe I gotta admit as far as class goes.....you set the bar really low this time. It's one thing to argue about politics. But this is taking things to a whole other level. Someone is bound to knock you silly one of these days if you don't knock it down a peg or two.
