OMG. Definitely a sad day. I actually came on the site thinking of posting a Marshall related topic. I was already blasting through a Marshall by 7:30 this morning. I've loved Marshalls since I bought my first JCM 800 from Rug back around 1990 or so. The man's products have always seemed to find a place in my sound no matter what I'm doing. R.I.P., Jim, you've certainly made your mark.

RIP JM. Check out this 1962 Marshall Jaguar. It might be the most beautiful amp I have ever seen. I don't know if I could even bring myself to even play it, it is so mint. Jim, you sure built some great amps.

We dedicated our Black Sun practice to Mr. Marshall last Thursday. My brother played through his 2203 KK and I actually unhooked the Mesas from the chain in order to play through both my 9001 and JMP-1 preamps into a Marshall power amp. Of course, we were both playing through 1960 Marshall cabs. It was glorious and great. R.I.P. and thank you again, J.C.M. The father of LOUD!

Apparently there was some fruhaha last week when Emperor cabs basically, on their Facebook, called Jim Marshall a huckster who stole designs off of Fender and he wasn't that big of a deal. They quickly pulled the post off of their FB and put something that seemed more respectful. Unfortunately for Emperor, the damage was done and their recant didn't work.

What a strange quote from the emperor website.

"Satan is an American and the world will be ours, ohm by ohm, watt by watt, and each American made Emperor piece at a time. Strengthen the army and show support."

I don't get it.

Jim Marshall was awesome. Copied design or not, his amps have added a unique flavor to rock and roll. I LOVE my jcm800. Simply an amazing amp in all respects. Well, not on cleans, but the tradeoff is well worth it.

They're sort of an odd company. Their market is largely the doom/stoner metal scene. I've never played through any of their enclosures. I've heard reports ranging from being totally awesome to being totally crappy. I love me some Kyuss and Sleep, but I've never really wanted that bass sound, so I've never really wanted to try any of their cabs.

That's a fairly hypocritical position for a company that started out making 4x12 enclosures.

That was pretty much the primary criticism they recieved after making the comment. The company always came off as a wannabe Orange to me. Apparently, they wrote some badly written rambling apology on their FB afterwards, saying some "fat" "idiot" of an employee made the comment and he was fired. The whole post seemed ambiguously sarcastic. Then they finally posted up a cogent apology.

Was there really some loose cannon employee who posted that on their FB? I honestly don't know. I'm not butthurt about the comment, because everyone has their own opinions and you can't go through life getting offended be everything you disagree with. However, it does smack of having no class and no professionalism.
