See, sadly, the problem lies in the perception of wealth and no changes to the tax burden when it comes to gas prices & commodities that we need to run our homes.

I actually am one of those people who grew up in a mobile home and have worked two and three jobs at a time while going to school full-time and living without the niceities of life. However, you just never hear me give my own anecdotal history about it and try to generalize it to macro-level issues in the world with my own brand of pop sociology (but hey, policy is made all the time from anecdotal evidence and folk philosophy, so maybe I should start doing that). Interesting point. Modern medicine keeps us alive for an average of 80 years despite much less exercise that when we were all working hard in the fields for our food. Despite the fact that we are on average WAY overweight, and more stressed out in a hectic modern world.

So you criticize the cost of modern health care, yet you seem to like the benefits that it keeps us alive much longer than 100 years ago.
