I figured that drugs had something to do with it, but didn't want to speculate till I heard from the toxicology reports.

She was on cocaine, xanax, weed, and other prescrip drugs and passed out in the tub and drowned. Someone tried to cover it up by taking the coke out before anyone came in.

What a role model.

Your heart has an arrhythmia, and stops working... she had atherosclerosis, as well, shutting down bloodflow immediately. She was probably as good as dead when she went under the water, and when she did, the water just poured in.
It's a real shame, she had an amazing voice, one of the few pop-stars who deserved to be a pop-star.

Factor in all those other drugs, we dont know how long she was awake. She coulda literally just couldnt stay awake anymore.

Cocaine only keeps you wired if you keep doing it. If you were to do a few lines, you wouldnt be up for years.
It really all depends on what else is being done. Combining drugs does alter effects on individual substances.

well, then the cause of death is easily determined at autopsy..ventricular fib. but you don't know that for sure do you?

sooo that begs question what is the official cause of D!!??

You do realize that abusing drugs & alcohol can cause or help along health problems right???

Like when cokeheads have heart attacks....sure it was a heart attack...but caused by the cocaine.

Because she was also on Xanax, benedryl, Flexeril and weed, all possible depressants. Alcohol was not listed on the tox report, but employees in the hotel said she was drinking that day.

Those 5 would knock out an ox.

I have heard other forensic experts laugh at that on the news. Most think the cocaine and the heart disease was the deadly mix. Cocaine is a very strong vaso constrictor. You do not want that if you have any kind of cardio and/or vascular disease. The other 5 drugs helped suppress her breathing.

Jetcity....dont dance around the truth here. It was a DRUG INDUCED drowning. Would she have still died if she had not been in a tub? Who knows.
Mixing all sorts of chemicals is just really stupid anyway. Especially when someone isnt so young anymore.

Edit: Exactly, UCJoe.

If I remember correctly, John Entwistle's COD was heart failure, even though he had just used a mountain of cocaine. It's perfectly legal to call an OD by another name on the Death Certificate, officials do it in cases like this. It softens the blow for the family. I was a First Responder once, and many times, when the paper says someone was killed instantly, that wasn't necessarily the case. It's just comforting those left behind.

Heart failure and sometimes referred to Congestive Heart Failure is the number one cause of death on most death certificates. If a person admitted to the hospital with a severe MI (heart attack) and does not survive, he most likely will develop heart failure and that is what killed him. It goes down as HF because that is the usual last step in the progression of heart disease.

Heart disease means the heart can no longer pump the blood to the brain and the body.

Once a person is diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, (congestive meaning fluid building up in the lungs, that is why the lyrics in Aqualung go: "And you snatch your rattling last breaths
with deep-sea-diver sounds,") there is only a 50% chance of survival for 5 years.

Moral of the story...Well, obviously, don't do drugs. But if you do, perhaps it would be wiser to take a shower instead of a bath.
