I hope he retires. I can't see him playing for another team.

He should be hired as the receiver coach.

This is what he said on his facebook page: "This isn't how I wanted this chapter of my career to end. I did everything in my power to remain a Steeler and finish what I started here 14 years ago. I want to thank the organization, my teammates and coaches and everyone who made my run as a Steeler the best years of my life. To Mr. Rooney, thank you for allowing me to play for one of the greatest organizations in the world. To my fans and in particular, Steeler Nation, thank you for your support and all the great memories. I gave my heart and soul for you every down and I will always bleed black and gold. I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL, again, this upcoming season. - HINES"

I hope to god that he doesn't play for another team. I think he would make a good coach as well. Or even a commentator.

I still believe they should've let him take a pay cut as he suggested he would definately do....let him play another year in which i'd say good chance of him retiring and then give him position of wide receivers coach. Can't hurt to have hines on the sidelines to coach and play in a game with the receiving corp they currently have in Wallace if he comes back, Brown, and Sanders, and possibly Cotchery. New offensive coordinator in town whose to say in different schemes that Ward is better than Cotchery when you throw him some consistent passes his way. Not many people I know in NFL can catch a ball across the middle with hands like Ward and still take a hit and get back up and laugh about it. Hines isn't as good receiving as he once was but he certainly by no means is just a waste of money either and I see it as more of an advantage to have him on the team at a league minimum pay than to cut him and possibly play against you.

Maybe he thinks he can get more than the league minimum.

I agree, Rob. He said in another statement on his facebook page, that there is more playing in him. So he might be with another team next year. I will hate that team instantly. Mostly for the fact that he said he wants to retire a steeler, and that may not be happening.

When you have been with these guys for their best years, it is so hard to see them at the end of their careers. It just breaks ones heart. You know they have to find that one player that is going to decimate the opposing line, but that don"t make it any easier to let our heroes gp.

I saw that also, Merge. They released him and Aaron Smith. The steelers will suck next season.

The steelers will suck next season.

I disagree. They need to start thinking about the future and how to compete. Aaron Smith is one of my all time favorites; buts he no good to the team if hes on IR. Farrior has lost a step. That defense they had wasnt good enough to win a championship. Period. And thats what that sport is all about.

Time to bring in some new blood. Its the way of the NFL. I think in a few ways they waited too long to address some of their issues. Id be tempted to trade Wallace and move up in the draft to get a running back and sign a free agent to fill Wallace's spot. Wallace is fast but hes going to eventually turn into a Desean Jackson. Good but never great except in his own mind. Just my .02.

Believe me, I would love to see the Steelers win another Super Bowl, and be successful. It is just all these changes come as a shock. I still love them and they are still my favorite team.

Dont be suprised if it is Casey Hampton. He plays one down for every 3.

Chris K should have been let go of last year. Hes a huge disappointment and a selfish player.

I think these moves make a lot of sense for the future. Free up some cap space.

The 3-4 defense takes roughly 4 to 5 yrs to really make sense to a player so figure on another legitimate championship run in about 6 yrs if they draft well and pickup some good free agents if defense would ever have to carry the team.
