I will have to watch the Monkees in honor of him.

Music Rocks!
Hope he's somewhere with Hendrix having a good laugh about how someone's dumbass agent booked "The Experience" to open for "The Monkees" back in the 60's!
You sure were a heartbreaker back in the day!!! R.I.P.

"The story of life is quicker than the blink of an eye. The story of love is hello and goodbye, until we meet again"! Jimi Hendrix
Met him at a book-signing at Nittany Mall, by accident. I was waiting for a friend to finish his shift, so I could catch a ride, the morning after a memorable night at The Scorpion. Seemed like a nice guy, I didn't act gurmy, so he treated me okay. He figured out that I was in a band, and I told him I'd been enjoying the fruits of it the night before, and was the worse for wear because of it. He nodded knowingly, and we both moved on.
I heard he lived in the Scotch Valley area for a short time. A friend of mine delivered some stuff to a home there, and he answered the door. Kinda freaked the guy out, as someone who had actually covered Monkees songs back in the day.
RIP, Davey.

Yeah, major bummer. I remember looking out the window at work seeing him walking down the sidewalk in downtown Johnstown when the Monkees were here in the mid-80's. All of the ladies went goofy over him.
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
No, but that's a good one. This time I was enjoying a young lady's company, and the cops towed my car. I found another young lady to stay with for the night, but it made for a hectic evening. I have to tell you that one someday.mjb wrote:did you tell him the story about that biker pissing on your face?
And the biker just shook it off, I was across the room. I didn't say anything. You wouldn't have, either, he had to be 6'7" or more. Makes for a great story, but scared the shit out of me at the time.

Anyway, Davey Jones was a really talented guy, even as a kid, and I'm sure he'll be missed.
Trivia: David Bowie's real name is David Jones, but he changed it because of Davey from the Monkees.
every year or two i just like to bring that story up and change it just a bit. i still remember you posting that story, and it still makes me laugh the way you told it... sometimes i'll just think of it and LMAO.songsmith wrote:No, but that's a good one. Davey Jones
We were the sound company when Davey Jones, Little Anthony and Dion were at the Jaffa, March 1992. It's hard to believe it's been 20 years ago already. He put on a good show. Easy to work with.
I love it when a plan comes together.
