You might want to consider Fishmans too:

Fishman is a favorite for all things acoustic.

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
I use a K&K Little Big Shot, and I like it more than any acoustic pickup I've ever used by far. They're under $40 usually, don't need a preamp (though they do work better with impedance matching and buffering that preamps provide), and I never got even the slightest feedback howl out if it. They work on everything, too. Get one, and I'll tell you how the president of the company told me to mount it, it works extremely well.
alright smithy(lol) where can i get one of those? Just curious.songsmith wrote:I use a K&K Little Big Shot, and I like it more than any acoustic pickup I've ever used by far. My apologies, it's the Big Shot, not Little Big Shot. They actually made those, but I don't think they do anymore. I got mine on Ebay, directly from the manufacturer, on the cheap because of some cosmetic flaw I couldn't even find. If you get one, don't stick it on anything, leave the backing paper on it.
On you mandolin bridge, slide the disc between the bridge base and floating part of the bridge, then wedge a thick guitar pick in there. That way, you put pressure on the transducer crystals, and get more gain. I got that from the president of the company, Karla Kaudel (it's a small company, and she actually sent the pickup out for me, too!).
They literally work on anything that'll vibrate, from guitars to auto engines. For that kind of money, it's worth trying.

I cast my vote for the K&K as well. I have K&k pups in both of my Martins as well as on my upright bass. They are depedable and are by far the most natural sounding acoustic pups I have ever heard. I get lots of positive comments from folks about the sound of my Martin through my PA. Should be able to google K&k to find info. Very affordable as well.
