Never heard ANYONE say they didn't love her voice, even if it wasn't the type of music you would normally listen to! No matter what transpired in the last few years of her life, she is still another amazing talent gone too soon!

In case anyone forgot, this was sold as a single in the platinum range in 1991 and 1992.It's her without the Xanax, booze, crack, or whatever else she got into. Damn shame, not many people are born with a set of pipes like her.

Is it me, or does every TV talent show female singer simply try to imitate Whitney? (I also think most of the guys emulate Stevie Wonder... or Whitney, in certain cases)
They always have to belt the sh*t out of everything, and there's always the patented Sam Harris octave-note as a crescendo at the end. They always seem to ATTEMPT her voice, but seldom get close.
Listen to Whitney Houston's famous version of the National Anthem... that is a singer OWNING a tremendously demanding song, her voice just soared, and she made us all look at a song we've heard a thousand times in a whole new light. It was a chart single ten years later! She literally redefined how the song was performed, as did Hendrix. You don't get many artists like that...

You are totally right about that, they all emulate Whitney or Mariah or some soulful singer they rarely can manage. I can't watch any of that Crap.
But Whitney was real!!! Its's too bad that fame is so hard for some. and truthfully, after living in LA for 8 years I wanted nothing to do with it.
Whitney got lost in the darkness of no one saying no to her & thats what fame much of the time becomes. She grew up in fame too, her Mom & Aunt Dionne Warwick which probably made it harder to be grounded. The pressure to stay stick thin probably didn't help, either. Hopefully "real" women like Adele are the new trend of real talent and self acceptance.
