Now that football is over, we can move onto baseball. Who do you think will be in the world series this year? I know the Pirates won't be. They will get our hopes up and then finish under .500 again, like they always do.

There are a few other things like

NHL
Winter Olympics which also has hockey...and...

curling which is every bit as exciting as baseball.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

The Summer Olympics are this year in London. There are no Winter Olympics this year. They are in 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

Also...now that fantasy football is over, I can move onto fantasy baseball. :D

I used to be a Marlins fan, but I've defected. I don't agree with a lot of things they've been doing recently. I'm a die hard Florida Marlins fan, not a Miami Marlins fan. So...since there are no more Florida Marlins, I'm now a Tigers fan.

That being said, I'd like to see a Tigers/D-Backs world series. Doubt that'll happen though, those Angels look formidable, but here's to wishin...

The Pirates will eventually come around I think, and on a side note (for fantasy implications), I'm curious to see what happens with Ryan Braun.

What record will the Pirates break this season? The 19th or 20th straight season under .500 for a major sports franchise?

This is the slow season of sports for me. I came to realize recently that while I do like hockey, I pay little attention to it. I'm a Rangers and Penguins fan with that respect, so yeah... It gets interesting

I'm not a baseball fan these days. In fact, I haven't been a baseball fan in years, really. I'm still an Orioles fan at heart, as I still remember going to the ballpark in Campden Yards as a kid, and young teen. In that respect, the Orioles kinda brings me back to childhood days. However, with no salary cap, and none in sight; with so much bad media about steroid abuse; and with so many people not being tested until after they've retired and their records hit the books, I have only a heavy apathy for the sport. Baseball reminds me of America's overall state these days. If the chance comes to see a baseball game, I'll go. It's actually more fun to watch from the stands than it is to look at a TV screen, and wait for each pitch. But as far as generally goes, I don't give a rat's ass (or any other part of it) for the MLB, and slightly more for any other incarnation of the sport

At current point, I'm actually curious about seeing what becomes of this USFL thing. For anyone who hasn't been paying attention to it,... A man named Michael Dwyer has been claiming his attempt to resurrect the long-since defunct league. The league ran, in its original format, between 1983, and 1985 (before I even knew anything about football). It could've been a major competitor to the NFL, had it not decided to take it head-on. He's been very tight-lipped about what's truly going on with it, and supposedly, there's a big announcement to be made on the 15th. While I don't know whether to give it much (as supposedly, this league should've been recreated 3 years ago), I'm very curious to see what he has brought together, and if he actually has recreated it. The website is down, and a lot of people are claiming hoax. I'm sitting on the fence on that. But, if he shows the product, of course that will make believers out of everyone. In the mean time, I'll just wait and see if anything comes of it. If, indeed, the USFL is reborn, it should kick off some time this spring. It may not be NFL-quality, but if it's football during the "off-season", I'm all for it

I would love to see the Pirates finish over .500, but we all know that won't happen. This will be the 19th year of a non winning season for them, unless they turn it around. I guess I could always root for the red sox as well. I usually do; I root for the Pirates in the National League, and the Red Sox in the American League.

Yeah, it is hockey season. I just am not into it that much this year for some reason. I still love it, though.

Naga, isn't the USFL an arena league?

I hope his play calling is better than Ariens. I will give him a chance. And then take it from there.

No, Frank. It's supposed to be standard, full-pad, full-field football. There are, however, a few other leagues (the current AFL [Arena Football League] by example) that are indoors. The USFL, in the 80's, set a lot of rules that the NFL follows to this day. Some movies even use old footage from the USFL, because there's no legal entity that can sue them for it. It's free-reign. It's supposed to be a week from tomorrow (or today upcoming, following the date after midnight) that he's going to make a big announcement regarding the New USFL. I am rather anxious at this point to see what that announcement will be. It could be a lot of things at this point
