Super Bowl commercials?

Post by Jim Price »

What is your verdict on this year's Super Bowl commercials? I thought they generally were more entertaining this year than they had been in the past few years. My favorite was the Skechers sneakers dog race commercial with the bulldog hot-dogging over the finish line. I also liked the Kia Optima commercial with Mr. Sandman tripping and sending the sleeping guy into the fantasy dream, and the Doritos ad with the grandmother slingshot/bungeeing the little kid to swipe the taunting bully's bag of Doritos. And the Elton John Pepsi commercial, bet he got paid major money for that appearance!

Overall, I thought the commercials sucked royally this year. A real letdown from years past. Was waiting for the total gutbuster that usually runs, and there wasn't one. Most of them weren't even funny or entertaining.

I don't think they were too incredibly bad, but it seems like every year the commercials tend to step it up from one year to the next, but it seems like it took a few steps back. I liked that Elton John/Pepsi commercial (I wish he would go back to his eccentric ways of old) and I'm stoked for that Avengers movie. I'm just glad there was no commercials shot in 3D.

There were a lot of car commercials. I liked the doritos one with the dog, the sketchers one with Mark Cuban, and the Matthew Broderick one.

The Matthew Broderick was the best, IMO. It would have been even better if they had his co-stars from Ferris Bueller's Day Off movie. Or just Ben Stein going Bueller...Bueller....Bueller?

Yeah, Ben Stein would have been icing on the cake.

Can't recall the last clever SB commercial ..

Commercials suck.

TV sucks (all stupid reality shows.."this wars" and "that wars" etc ).

Movies suck (all "action" for the sake of action alone. no plot, no rhyme or reason to the storyline; action and slow mo scene spliced together w/o purpose).

Acting sucks. Where have all the real actors gone?

Where's movies like Bullitt? The French Connection? Seven-Ups?

They didn't' show this car commercial in it's entirety, but I think it's the best one! VERY creative, but all those pianos and guitars....

My fav was actually the Chevy truck apocalypse commercial... It was only "ok" at first but when they ended it with the one dude eating twinkies I busted a nutt...

Did you ever watch Zombieland? If you haven't then you wouldn't understand why that is sooo funny...

Did you ever notice that on any movies, TV shows, or commercials where there is a disaster that the debris is laying eveywhere but on the road where they are driving.
