Bands - BEWARE!!!!
I don't normally do this, but this is the SECOND time we've been cancelled, at the last minute, by the Curwensville Moose. I was told by one of their Board menbers that we are cancelled for tomorrow night feb 4th - even though they advertised our band on their website (as of 4:30PM today, we are still advertised as playing). After a little investigating, I was informed by ANOTHER Board member that the real reason we were cancelled is because there is a reunion gig for a former popular band in the are in a competing establishment for the same night and the fear is the club may not make any money. I might even have accepted this for a valid reason (times are tough today - don't burn your bridges) but the guy that cancelled us instead told me - and I quote - " well, I just had a death in my family and won't be able to be there". In my book, if you lie about your intentions once you'll do it repeatedly! Bands, if you want to take the risk, be my guest. However, the first time they cancelled on us (no reason given by the same guy) we could have played elsewhere for a lot more money. I won't cancel for that reason - because in my book a deal is a deal. Now that I know this group has no concience, I don't want to deal with them.

Clubs and bars are in business to make money. If you want to play you are going to have to deal with situations like this. Is it fair? No. Truth is there are fewer and fewer venues to play in, so as bad as this may sound, you're just going to have to eat a bit of shit on this one. Take said dick up your ass while smiling and book another show. Life sucks sometimes, son.

I appreciate the comment about "eating a little shit'. I have no problem with the business of the business of playing. What I have a problem with is someone not being up front with me. If there is a financial concern, tell me. It does our band absolutely no good to lose money for a club. Don't tell me you had a death in the family and can't be there. As for my posting this in the first place, if you get a booking at the Curwensville Moose, God bless you. I am simply telling you what you might encounter. We had TWO of these circumstances happen to us. THAT RAISES A RED FLAG TO ME!!!!!! I feel it's my DUTY to inform other musicians that this appears to be the way this club does business. I f you choose to ignore my warning, fine. It's your risk.
