no, i didnt mean someone different wrote the lyrics. i meant the songs sound different than the first album. like they have progressed as a band and seem confident.bfoust wrote:Who wrote the previous songs? According to wikipedia, Lzzy has a writing credit on all of them. Do you mean Howard Benson, the producer of their self-titled album?

She is the only band member listed as doing any writing. She prob wrote her lil words and thats it. The entire album was written by other people. Says it right there in black and white.
Most bands will have the band members listed as the songwriters...clearly they did not write their first record.
Its pretty odd, why sign a band if you dont think their songs are good? Unless there are other reasons for them being signed. Im still a little curious why they are being pushed still and getting tours. That goes back to the "other reasons" part I guess.
They shoulda fought to be able to record their own songs!

When we were hanging out with them before the first album came out, they let us listen to it. They were very excited about it for obvious reasons, but also explained that they had to talk the producers into letting them play the songs instead of studio musicians. They wanted Liz to sing, but record everything with other musicians. They fought, and were then allowed to let everyone else record. She collaborated on a couple songs on the writing, she said Corey Taylor helped her write some stuff on the first album, as well as Adam from 3 Days Grace. It all turned out amazing, hope the next one is just as good.

Yeah, i figured they werent gonna be able to even play on the record. Thats what happens when other people write all the songs.
Its good they fought to atleast play the songs.
If you didnt write your record, playing on it would be the next best thing I guess.
I guess the real question is...why didnt they get to put their own songs on their record? What did their stuff sound like before?

When I interviewed Lzzy last year, she explained that the songwriting aspect was collaborative; she and Halestorm developed the initial song ideas, and the other writers helped hone and fine-tune those ideas into the finished songs on the first album. Halestorm created the songs, but the collaborators offered ideas and helped to fine-tune them. (A few of the songs, notably "It's Not You" and "Familiar Taste of Poison," existed even before the Atlantic deal happened.) Lzzy also said she and the group threw out a lot of ideas from the collaborators as well; they didn't just rubber-stamp the collaborators' ideas, but had some control on how the songs took shape.
Lzzy collaborated with David Ivory a lot in learning her craft, so I'm sure the process with the other writers was based on what she had learned with David Ivory. She looked at the collaborations as a learning experience, and as a process to help her become a stronger and more focused songwriter.

Do I have to be mad to bring up a fact??? Damn, bro.
If the band wasnt from PA would it have been ok?????
Not everyone is mad who brings up facts. If that were the case...the world would be very different.
I dont have any vendetta against this band. I dont listen to them, dont have anything of theirs, and have no reason to. I was simply bringing up a theory on why the second album sounded apparently very different from their first. Its not like I was on here spreading lies about them.
This isnt the "Some Kind of Monster" dvd. Not everyone needs to dissect reasons behind feelings. hahha.
