Can't believe this happened..Why would a bar owner do this!!

This really bugged me all night! We played at the hitchin post last night ......thursday
Well as always we have the opposition come play with us which is ice and billy etc.. anyway, at the 2nd song butch came up and stopped them in the middle of a song and told them to stop because he said it sucked and he didn't want it in his bar. Everybody in the bar couldn't believe he did that and either could I. Basicallly he embarresd them in front of everyone. I have never seen a bar do that to someone and I would hope that would never happen again. We do play there tonight but we will never play that bar again because of this! The only reason we are still playin is because some guys in the band need the money and we had some friends plannin on comin and that's it. It's a messed up situation and just wanted to make people aware of it.

Don't surprise me one bit.
If I may, what kind of music does your band play, and what were your guests playing that got them shut off?

yes ron.......kinda...yet shorter and glasses!!lol
Anyways we play 80's mostly but the band the opposition plays punk like music but they've played there several times with us and the banditos aswell and nothing was ever said. I can understand that it's not the music that is normally played there but like i said....they have played with us and other bands there before and never had a problem. I still can't believe it!

From the grapevine (read: firsthand knowledge): There has been a lot of stuff going on with the internal workings at The Hitching Post, Scott, and it sounds like you and Opposition got caught up in it.
All I can say is that the powers that be there have been pushing a lot of regulars and employees right out the door, and there are some really bad feelings going on there.
For the guys in Opposition (who F*CKING rock, by the way), don't take it personally, you guys kick ass. Just chalk it up as a bad musical experience and move on. (And cross the Hitching Post off your list of potential bookings, LOL) Chin up, guys, you totally rock.

Dood...
I couldn't have said it better. The Opposition definitely proved themselves at RPJam3.ToonaRockGuy wrote:For the guys in Opposition (who F*CKING rock, by the way), don't take it personally, you guys kick ass. Just chalk it up as a bad musical experience and move on.
... and then the wheel fell off.

Good job on this post!
When I received my last-straw unacceptable BS from the Hitching Post, I freaked the f**k out. You know, eyes rolling up into the back your of head, etc.....
You handled this nicely and, hopefully, people will get the message this time. I'm sure that people will continue to play behind that chimney/flu, but they have been warned time and time again.
In the old days, I had mug #22 out of several hundred. That's OK...somebody sold all of our mugs that we paid $10 for anyway. I don't even bother going there anymore.

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
I walked into a bar last night, expecting to have a good time with a few of my friends and listen to some good music. It wasn't real crowded, (but nowadays it usually isn't) so I got a pitcher of Mick-a-lobe and sat down and waited for the show to start. Damn, what a show! Halfway into the first band's second song, some dorky little guy came clumsily onto the stage and started waving his hands around all over the place. I thought to myself "Hey buddy, you better lay off the crack pipe a little." and I waited for a bouncer or the owner or someone to come drag the drunk little nuisance out of the way. The band quit playing, and I thought maybe this poor little guy had lost his mind from whatever he had been drinking or whatever, because he was telling the guys in the band that they sucked, and they'd have to quit.
The guys in the band looked completely confused by the whole thing, but they quit playing. That's when I realized that the moron who had interupted the show was the owner. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I don't know if this guy came to America tied to the bottom of the slow boat from "Phuknutsburg", but his momma must not have had time in between tricks to teach him any manners. Well, that's when the real fun started. You could have heard a pin drop in that place. I think everyone was too stunned to say anything, except for the singer, who was about 4 times bigger than the little guy, and mad as hell about being so disrespected in public. This guy called the owner some pretty insulting things, not quite as insulting as being stopped in the middle of a song that you wrote and are proud of, by some "over anxious to show his authority and lack of class" schmuck who couldn't handle his chemicals, but the owner put himself in a really ugly spot, he got what he deserved. I doubt I'll ever go to that bar again, but I'll tell you, that band is playing at City Limits on Saturday night, and from what I've been hearing, they're pretty damn good. All original music.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."
Actually, this same damn thing happened to me during the second show I played with my last band.We played a show at Rockey's in Woodvale, and although i thought it was disrespectful, i had to agree with the owner in this case because our singer did really sound like a big fat bag of ass that night. However, what happened in your case, totally sucks, it definetly sounds like there were some weird ass politics going on there.
Make us one from the sky I command it...seriously I do command it.
