Keyboard Player for the Blues

Post by T.H.B.B. »

The Hawks Blues Band is looking for a keyboard player to round out our lineup for 2012. While the band is doing quite well four piece if the right person comes along we will make the addition.

Must haves:

Reliable stage and studio worthy equipment. We don't need a truck load of keyboards your basic good piano and organ patches are required and something to amplify it with. Anything else is just fluff. If you have a full sized B or C that's cool but you need to be the one to be able to haul and load in/out. If your keyboard has the speakers built in to it, probably not what we are looking for, unless you can really play the dog crap out of it!!!! You will need to have you own equipment to audition.

Your own transportation. While we have a trailer to haul our stuff and we try to take the minimal amount of vehicles to out of town jobs you will still need to be able to get yourself and your stuff to practice and jobs as needed.

The ability to practice and play on a regular basis. With that said, we all have families and a life outside of the band so our model for booking the band will take that into consideration. If you are looking to play 10 time a month, that probably will not happen. We are focusing on playing 4 to 6 time a month along with rehearsals as needed.

Musical Skills. You need to have a fundamental understanding of music theory and be able to apply it. You need to be able to understand and know how and when to comp along with being able to solo and have the chops to do so. Good improvisational skills, we do a lot of things on the fly and you need to be able to adjust accordingly. We are looking for someone who understands and enjoys the blues genre but has some jazz skills as well.

Don't needs:

Attitude! If you have one or are generally considered to be an A-hole don't bother . We are more interested in someone that will fit from a personality and chemistry perspective as opposed to being a virtuoso with a "tude". While we can all be A-holes at times we do try to keep this to a minimum as opposed to a way of life.

Addictions. If you are chemically dependent or addicited again don't bother. We are not choir boys by any stretch of the imagination and anything in moderation is fine.

Delusions of grandeur. We are a blues band that is gaining popularity, but we are still paying our dues to get into places and that translates into your not going to get rich, so if you have to make a certain amount of money each job and are not willing to put the effort in to make it work, then this is probably not for you.

In summary, if you find that any of the above either hits close to home, you are insulted by it or even take exception to any or all of it, then this is probably not for you. If in fact you find the hidden humor, have the skill sets and a burning desire to play the blues and have fun doing it then hit us up.

As we have stated above we are doing fine four piece so we are not against the wall to add someone right away. If you are that right someone, this is a great oppurtunity.

We are surprised the phone isn't ringing off the hook. What's up with that?
