I know this, it's not the cops, I have been there when they have responded to complaints, from neighbors, and they ( the cops ) were cool, they knew John, and we all had a little talkin' outside. they could care less what goes on, but when people complain, they have to respond. It kinda goes like that . If it's not packed an has people absorbing the sound, and it's loud, the sound carries. It sucks, because Pete's is right in the middle of town , but you just have to be careful how loud it is.
CUNTS will be CUNTS.

Even though it is in the middle of town, if you look at that block its hard to believe a neighbor lives close enough to be bothered by it.
I've always found it odd that the bars who do get in trouble are either rural or if in the city, houses are not right beside it.

Not that it means much but this is my personal opinion.
I would move the stage back to the other end of the bar. The electrical is better back there and it's also the newer side of the building, meaning that it's cinder block, not a thin wooden wall like the 6th Ave side.
I'd make the back door & ramp the "musicians load in" area and close it off for people to enter through. Make the "side" door near the front of the building the new front door. It's used most of the time anyway once people are in there or in the summer, AND the bar tenders have clear eye shot of who's coming in/out, sneaking in minors, carrying out beer, fighting, etc.
With the door way in the back, no one knows what's going on back there unless your glued to the security monitor all night watching for trouble.
If the stage was moved back to the other side, the front door almost has to be moved up front. It's just too congested back there.
Stage, bathrooms, doorman, band gear, entrance/exit = traffic jam.
The idea of having the stage where it is now to give more room & make it visible from the bar is good, but I think it's just creating more problems being on that 6th Ave wall.
I remember when peter Cs was the shit to play at and maybe doing some rearranging might help get it back to form without having to do major construction.
Like I said, this is just my opinion.

Don't know if you know that that was the old set-up. That back door was still used as exit/entrance. Load-in, electric, etc might be better there but for the audience (in my opinion) the current set-up is better. Fights? Believe it or not, I have never witnessed one in there. Have seen more in DJ type bars, and I frequent PC's often. As far as the original subject which is neighbors calling the cops, it won't quit no matter how you set up the bar I think.I would move the stage back to the other end of the bar. The electrical is better back there and it's also the newer side of the building, meaning that it's cinder block, not a thin wooden wall like the 6th Ave side.

I've seen more fights in there than anywhere I've ever played before. Come to think of it I believe their was at least one fight every time we played there. lol
I even saw John get into it with a guy. It was well deserved after this guy was glad handing Julia when she was only like 14.
Not sure what shoew's you've been to ZappasWife, but trust me. Their have been many a fight in that bar.
That's not the subject though, it's about the setup. And yes I remember the old way. I played on it for like 4 years. With the current situation of the bar & cops I think it would be better if it was back to how it was.
Again, this is just my opinion. Take it as only that.

Yes, I have had some issues with noise lately, Although I have left the volume go completely unchecked for a long time I just have to check on it from time to time, not alot just alittle. It seems to happen every time someone new moves into one of these town houses across the alley. You would think if they are checking out a place to live they would notice the night club on the corner with a big marquee listing the up coming bands. I had a discussion with one of the p.l.c.b. agents about no bar being able to comply with the noise laws. The law state that if you make noise or music in a bar that can be heard outside, any noise at all you are in violation of the ordiance.

Well, never said there is never fights there, just not when I've been there. I'm usually there on Thurs nights (Hurricanes) and whenever Flame Sky plays. I really think the genre of music draws certain kinds of people, hence certain audience dynamics shall we say.Not sure what shoew's you've been to ZappasWife, but trust me. Their have been many a fight in that bar.
Quail Whale, when your comment began with 'the worst fight I ever saw' it reminded me of the PeeWee Herman movie and the part with Large Marge (the worst accident I ever saw...), I love that part. I would love to use that face she did as my avatar.
Bob, congratulations on your citizen award!

If there's anything in this life I've learned, it's that people like to bitch. I think it makes them feel empowered somehow. Man, I should write my graduate thesis on that.BigJohn wrote:It seems to happen every time someone new moves into one of these town houses across the alley. I remember I was playing at this club one time where some class reunion was being held. The event was suppose to be over like an hour before show time. When we started playing at our scheduled time, some guy walked up to the stage with a note stating that the alumnus wanted to finish their conversations in quiet. That's cool and all, but we were scheduled to be performing right then. Their event was suppose to be over. Of course, you put on a shitty grin and comply because "that's part of the business".
And yes, I'm aware that I just bitched about something.

I would like to thank my parole officer, without him this award would not have been possible! Memories..... I believe that was the Gallitzin IMS... I think I can still see the smug look on that dude's face when he gave us the note. Looking back, we should've cranked "rockin in the free world" or something!!

Yeah, I thought Chris was going to start kicking people's asses. *LOL* I think that was the weekend where Skinsey had us play two nights in a row, so it all worked out in the end. It still pissed me off though. *LOL*GUITARII wrote:bassist_25 wrote:
