Alright, so I like to run a wireless unit, and I would like to run my processor, and I always like to have my tuner plugged in, and I have my new hitch - my DI box.
Alright so - comming out of the reciever from my wireless unit is a cable going to my Input on the processor. From Output on processor, another cable runs to the Input of my tuner. The Output from the tuner runs into the Amp and - BOOM! - Magic. This set up works. (( Matt made me repeat this to him so he knew that I knew what I did and why it worked - hehe ))
Now! How do I go about throwing my DI box into this mix. I mean, I know you run a cable from the PreAmp Out on the amp into the Input on the DI Box, then the sound man comes over and plugs his cable into your DI and your good for business. Right?
I had a problem with this down at Aldo's where I was getting nothing but stage volume, but nothing through the house PA.
So, is my set up above wrong, or was it something simple like a bad cable. It couldn't be my DI Box, I just bought the damn thing (Whirlwind Imp 2). Anyone have any suggestions?
Help!!

In theory, that should have worked at Aldo's. Since I don't know the sound guy there, I am going to pass judgement that he had something hooked up incorrectly, or didn't have something turned up. How loud was your stage volume? I've gotten complaints that I didn't have the bass player in the house mix, and no I didn't. Why? His stage volume was so loud, I didn't need him there to get a nice mix. Hope that helps.

Have you ever used the DI before? Even a new box can be broken.DMFJ03 wrote:It couldn't be my DI Box, I just bought the damn thing (Whirlwind Imp 2). Anyone have any suggestions?
What kind of amp are you running?
Bring it to Dougherty's tomorrow night and I'll take a look at it to see if I can help. I also carry some DI's so we could see if your box is DOA.

That should have worked. I would check the amp's preamp out to make sure there is a signal to the DI. Just connect the preamp to an amp and speakers and see what you get. If there's enough signal to drive the amp then there's something wrong with the DI.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
The DI box worked before, I had only used during one other show.

Do you want the coloration the amp gives, or is the processor a Line 6 Pod-type thing? If it is, you could send the XLR out of the DI to the PA and the 1/4" out to your amp... use the amp for stage level, monitoring purposes, and don't touch the level going to the house. It should have still worked your way, though.---->JMS
I know it has been forever since this thread was active, but I wanted to let everyone know that I fixed my DI Box problem...
I went out and bought a complete new bass rig with a built in DI Box.
