I often rest my pinky on the pick guard during tricky passages. I think it's a bad place to put touch sensitive controls.

All that to get a strat to sound like a strat?

The Kinetis K chips look pretty cool. Might have to get a developer kit. It beats the hell out of the chips i was using in the 1980s-2000s--go Captain Zilog. Everything you need is right there on chip.

And Jason, my "bad habit" is putting my pinky on the edge of the bridge pickup to anchor my hand for detailed picking. That caused a problem with shifting the pickup around, so I put pickup covers on all my guitars and it works great!

+1 . i kinda rest my pinky on the middle single coil. i'd be hitting all kinds of things i wasnt supposed to.

and the lights are kinda distracting. id be staring at that green light and forget what i was doing.

id rather keep it simple. imo

Yep, the kiss method is best.

I suppose that would work great with those pickups if you took the pure signal and ran it through a processor with foot controls. When I'm using a processor, I just keep the volume and tone at 10 because lower levels actually have a negative effect on the A/D conversion.

It might even work better with a S/PDIF connector.

*dusts off microprocessor programming software*

Of course, PRS was either not in production yet or still unknown when these guys were alive. Perhaps if they used PRS, they would still be alive today.
