*sigh* Why does someone ALWAYS have to drag politics into musical discussions? This is why I don't chat on the RP forum much anymore.

Holy shit!!!! Didn't mean to get everyone's panties in a knot!!! Wasn't trying to make a political statement either! Hmmm, okay how about instead of Obama and Pelosi---Dolly Parton and Ann Wilson???? Those two would probably really "stick out" if you're looking for boobs!!!!

You people take this stuff WAY too seriously! You all want to have your little opinions, but the minute someone says some thing you don't agree with, GOD FORBID, the freakin' world as you know it is going to come to an end!!! Jeez, get a life!

The first few times it happens, no. When it happens again and again, you're damn right I take it seriously. Gets real annoying real fast.

Wrong again. You've completely missed the point. It's not your opinion of Obama and Pelosi I have a problem with. I respect the opinions of others even if I don't agree with them. In this very thread, in fact, there are people who were mentioned that I personally think have no business being on a Mt. Rushmore of musicians, but you don't see me posting things like "What the hell were you guys thinking?" People have a right to speak their mind whether I agree with them or not and I respect that.

What I DON'T have respect for are people who make a thread post with no regard for what the thread's original theme was in the first place. If this were a thread about politics, I wouldn't have said a word. But it's not. What you've done here is commonly known as "thread hijacking" and it's generally frowned upon. And since a lot of people apparently agree, the best thing to do would be to acknowledge it and apologize instead of saying things like...

Now, can we return to the music discussion without interruption please?

Good point Hawk. I honestly tried to come up with female musicians I sincerely admire and couldn't think of any. I tend to lean toward music with complex, dramatic arrangements and female musicians tend not to write stuff like that much. But if I had to pick...

Jewel (early days before she went "pop")
Enya
Ann Wilson
Nancy Wilson

Wouldn't it be awesome if there were an all female prog rock band? :D

Joni Mitchell
Stevie Nicks
Emmylou Harris
Bonnie Raitt
Janis Joplin
Sarah McLachlin
Ann Wilson
Nancy Wilson
Joan Baez
Patsy Cline
Susan Tedeschi
Melanie

Guess we're gonna need a bigger mountain, boys!!!

I would add Annie Lennox and Joan Mitchell.

If you add Dolly Parton, you might need another mountain range.
