Good way to ruin your breakfast!
Joe did exactly what he was legally obligated to do, exactly what he was required to do. Hence no legal action against him.
Joe should have done MORE than what was minimally required. He should have done what was morally required.
I love Joe, I always said he should call his own retirement day.
Now I hope he forever represents what happens when one does NOT go above and beyond duty. !
Joe failed miserably, as did everyone else who knew about Sandusky's pedophilia. In my mind, every kid who was raped after Joe knew what Sandusky was is his responsibility and it wipes out EVERY good thing he ever did.

See, this is the part that I don't get. Where is this evidence that Paterno "knew" about Sandusky's pedophilia?Hawk wrote:Joe failed miserably, as did everyone else who knew about Sandusky's pedophilia. As I understand it, correct me if I'm wrong, Mcquery (spelling) told Paterno what he saw Sandusky do.lonewolf wrote:See, this is the part that I don't get. The official finding of the Grand Jury was that McQueary told Paterno that he saw:Hawk wrote:As I understand it, correct me if I'm wrong, Mcquery (spelling) told Paterno what he saw Sandusky do.lonewolf wrote:See, this is the part that I don't get. "Sandusky in the Lasch building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy."
While this may sound disturbing, it is a far cry from "knowing" that Sandusky is a pedophile, especially when you consider the close relationship that Paterno had with Sandusky and Sandusky's reputation as a "pillar of the community."
This is where I give Paterno the benefit of doubt. Put in Paterno's shoes, I would probably have doubted McQueary's interpretation of what he saw. We don't know if Paterno followed up with Curley, but if he did, the "official report" from Curley and Schultz to Spanier would only serve to reinforce this position.

So the great JoePa thought this was normal behavior by his friends??? A sixty year old man in a shower with a young boy????? In a shower where no one supposed to be there?lonewolf wrote: "Sandusky in the Lasch building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy."
As soon as the words sexual nature and young boy were mentioned he should have done much more.
So Joe never followed up on this. Also Sandusky was investigated as far back as 1995 over the same type of allegations.
JoePa, and all the administrators involved dropped the ball, protected one of the "good ole boys", and let years and years of possible child rape continue on Penn State facilities.
$100s of Millions in civil lawsuits are in the near future.
Maybe us non-Penn State koolaid drinkers just don't understand how to protect the "good ole boy" network that exists at PSU football. I never bought into the Penn State mystique, and thought JoePa should have been retired at least 10 years ago.

After everyone saw that no one was gonna do shit...why didnt someone call the police and give a tip? That way, no one has to risk their precious job hanging out with rapists and enablers.
This whole thing makes me sick. I even think mcquery's dad should be arrested. He knew about it also and didnt say shit. Everyone failed on this. They are all a bunch of sick assholes.
Rest assured if one of my friends or someone I knew was raping kids, Id beat the living shit outta them....or maybe just torture. Depends on how much evil id wanna let through. Then, id call the police. I dont care who it is. Giving someone like that what they deserve is something I would gladly spend some time in jail for. With a smile on my face.
Gutless people are ones who stand by and let things happen. I could never been one of those people. Some things are worth defending and standing up for.

I don't know how accurate the "no one supposed to be there" part is, but you obviously never played junior high football before the 70s.undercoverjoe wrote:So the great JoePa thought this was normal behavior by his friends??? If that was the conversation don't you think Joe would ask Mcquery a few questions ? I do. Like, "What? ! Tell me exactly what happened ?lonewolf wrote:The official finding of the Grand Jury was that McQueary told Paterno that he saw:Hawk wrote:As I understand it, correct me if I'm wrong, Mcquery (spelling) told Paterno what he saw Sandusky do.lonewolf wrote: See, this is the part that I don't get. The grand jury statement stopped short of reality as though Mcquery made a statement and nothing more than that statement and Joe took that exact statement to his boss without inquiring as to exactly what was seen.

I can't find a link, but in one of those situations on his front lawn last week, Paterno said that he stopped McQueary and told him that he needed to report it to the AD.Hawk wrote:If that was the conversation don't you think Joe would ask Mcquery a few questions ? I don't know if you are aware of this (Wiki is not), but Paterno also held the position of Athletic Director for several years and stepped down specifically so he would not have to deal with these kinds of problems and try to coach the team at the same time. At 75, I seriously doubt that he suddenly changed his mind.

What others are saying about the silence at Penn State:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7232023
When someone hears about adults and children and the word sexual is used, you do something about it, you tell the police.
Fuck the policy book at PSU.

I heard they looked at the Reptilians too, but didnt have enough evidence since it was 15th hand hearsay.
Its a very elite group of super alumni assembled for the 3rd party investigation. No stones left unturned.
Word has it that Pinocchio & Optimus Prime have left town after hearing what a great job the Super Alumni Force has been doing.

I by no means think Sandusky is innocent of these crimes BUT he hasn't even gone to trial yet so at this point he is still innocent, yet,Joe Paterno is being crucified?Sorry, you can say all you want about morals but until Sandusky is found guilty,Paterno, and actually everyone else involved at this point, are just as innocent...that's the way I see it.

I also think Paterno was gonna resign last week but his son,the lawyer, probably told him to announce his retirement instead. They probably figured he was gonna get fired, so now since he didn't quit,he can fight for his retirement and things he would be entitled to after 61 years of service. Hell,he could actually fight for U.C Benefits. If nothing else is found against him legally, the BOT would have fired him with really no legal reason and he'll probably win. Now,go ahead and flame away.

The facts point to AD Curley and Senior VP Schultz. Aside from perjury and failure to report, they should also be charged with criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice.undercoverjoe wrote:Who have you identified so far?lonewolf wrote:Actually, every alum I have spoken with wants to crucify the people responsible.undercoverjoe wrote: I guess only PSU grads and employees can have the logic it takes to defend the cover up of child molestation.

Its still murky as to what Spanier knew. I didn't see any Grand Jury opinion on his credibility.

Hmm. It seems that somehow, the highest PSU god got FIRED. Wonder how that could possibly happen with him being omnipotent and all?undercoverjoe wrote:What about the highest PSU god, JoePa, who is both Zeus and Odin of Happy Valley?lonewolf wrote:The facts point to AD Curley and Senior VP Schultz. The bottom line with Joe is that he was not in a position to call the police from any legal perspective. He did not have the position to report it going by university policy AND since he did not witness it and only had limited 2nd hand hearsay knowledge of the incident, he could not make a legitimate report directly to police.
Based on the facts at hand, the only 2nd guessing that I would possibly make about Paterno's actions is that he could have advised McQueary to call the police instead of going to the AD.
Anything else is just a legally-ignorant, torch and pitchfork opinion.
