Penn State vs. Nebraska
Penn State vs. Nebraska
In spite of all the heinous things that Sandusky/administration/others have done .......please don't take it out on the players/students and those who were not "in the know". These kids have worked hard and deserve our support today and from now on. This is a royal mess and needs to be appropriately handled and those who are guilty punished. But remember
(as I do) all the good times and great things that have come out of PSU. I'm asking that you please cheer on this team today (especially the seniors) and show them that "they" still have something to be proud of and that is THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS! Go Penn State!!!!!!

I don't buy the "single lapse of judgement" argument. You can be the greatest human being up to this point, but if you do something wrong, you deserve to pay the price. If I've never done a thing wrong in my life, but a "single lapse of judgement" from me causes serious harm to someone, I deserve to pay the consequences. That's like saying it's ok to cheat on my fiance, because it was just a single lapse of judgement. These are innocent kids we are talking about.

Well, since everyone is saying Paterno didn't follow morals, what about the janitor and his co-workers not calling the police? Or,what about McQueary and his father? So what if his dad didn't work for the university,he was told about it just seconds after McQueary had witnessed it. Oh yea, they all were worried about losing their jobs, but what would that matter, right? The one victim said things to his mother about Sandusky being a sex weirdo(or something like that) but she didn't go to the authorities. They ALL had a moral obligation to make the call but none of them chose to either, but I guess at the end of the day,Joe Paterno is the one to blame for it all. I'm sure a few of the Board of Trustees members may have knew about the 1998 investigations or maybe even knew about the other 2 incidences, why aren't they being held accountable? It's easy to point the finger at Paterno right away-why? Because the media is making a ton of money from him through this. If it was the basketball or volleyball coach,it won't have been nearly as covered by the media. And let's face it,the media loves "dirt". Just look at politicians, the media enjoys dragging them through the mud, they're doing it everyday...that's how they pay their bills and make names for themselves.

This. Hello voice of reason.Well, since everyone is saying Paterno didn't follow morals, what about the janitor and his co-workers not calling the police? Or,what about McQueary and his father? I absolutely agree with that. I admit that I have fallen into the "point the finger at Paterno" trap. I was just saying that I don't buy the "single lapse in judgement" arguement. As far as "having my day in court", I would like to think that I wouldn't put myself in that situation to begin with. I'm not saying that to be holier than thou, I'm saying that as a responsible adult.onegunguitar wrote:Well, since everyone is saying Paterno didn't follow morals, what about the janitor and his co-workers not calling the police? I think there are two camps here. One says, "Everybody who didn't go to the police, including JoePa, is responsible." The other says, "Everybody but JoePa is responsible."
JoePa has done alot of good, nobody denies that. The Catholic bishops involved in their pedophile scandal also did alot of good over their careers, too... but they didn't go to the police, they "took care of it" in-house, they kept it quiet. Why? Because they felt the organization was more important than the needs and safety of a few kids.
Catholicism itself was rocked to it's foundations, the last 3 Popes have been implicated in cover-ups, and many millions of dollars paid-out, many churches closed. They'd have been much better off to help in the prosecution of the sexual offenders in the first place.
I think the PSU brass realize that now, too.

Again....... This thread was not to discuss JoePA/Administration/Sandusky/or anything to do with the "situation" involving the child abuse. IT WAS TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE STUDENTS AND ATHLETES (i.e seniors, etc.) NOT TO DISCUSS THE CHILD ABUSE ISSUES. This drives me crazy how on this site people don't read what the thread is about/says before they go off on a tangent. As I said earlier, save that for another thread please. These kids don't deserve to have to put up with what has happened since it is not their fault. They are just trying to enjoy their college experience. It's hard enough to make it through school without all this bullshit. There are plenty of other threads to discuss that matter.
