Civic Arena

Do you think smaller bands could book the civic Arena since no hockey this year? What about 20 small bands doing an all day rock fest... maybe call it "Midgets of Rock"

Nice wishful thinking, QW, but it'll never happen.
Well... it could happen if someone is willing to throw away a bunch of money. That place is just too big. Without a national headliner you'd only sell a fraction of the tickets needed to break even.
... and then the wheel fell off.

eek, throwin away money for all of those places. try starting out a little smaller than that, like your local high school's football field. you can work the bugs out on a smaller scale and it will save a few bucks. the seats are already provided and if it is like ours the track field surrounds it and provides a dance area too. if you advertise it correctly you are going to pull in your target audience and hit some of the up and coming high school kids that are going to be our next generation of live music. and if you are donating money to something make it for music for education, this way you get teachers and school officials involved and it is like having instant security with out having to hire someone for the job. 99% of the time your local police and ambulance will be there also on standby for free and the school will open the concession stand for food and pop and make some more $ for themselves in that area too. I have something like this in the works right now, it is a pain in the ass to pull all of this together but a cheaper way to get what you want.

and I forgot something else, anybody remember the old music alley concerts and music fest that used to be held all the time? we are going to be doing this once a year also. for those of you that do not know what I am talking about. it was an outdoor concert, 2 1/2 days of music and everyone (about 4000 people) showed up with tents, food and beer, and whatever else they wanted and just camped out by fires and listened to the music and partied, if a band wanted to stay and walk around and meet people they stayed, handed out cards and introduced themselves to everyone and guess what, wherever they played after that they were remembered by people from this concert. the first one I ever went to I was pregnant and she is 21 now. anyway, we are making arrangements to have this at the eagles nest out in hazen (where our abate party is also) and we are going to be contacting bands very soon to see if anybody is interested. these are all things that you can pull off cheaper and still hit your target audience, all bands are paid for their performances and the music goes from country to heavy metal, this one will definately hit your target audience because they have to be 21 to get in. I think I cross posted again, huh? let me post the details in a new topic and see what you all think.

Well ya gotta start at the bottom right ? Good thinkin start in the basement and move your way up !!!!!

Hey 450 ia a pretty good crowd. I don't think I played for that many since my High school talent show. Did a band showcase in the early 90's at a place called the Dynasty ( I think thats what it was called ) down by Pittsburg there may have been close to that many there too.
