~*~Eulogies~*~

Post by Brian of the Clan Plush »

First, sorry to those who read this because they thought someone died.

This is actually an attempt to start a new thread thats the antithesis of Esa's ~*~Grievances~*~ thread. Hence eulogies, the antonym for grievances. Anywho....

I could write a book on the things I hate. And apparently you all aren't having much trouble coming up with ideas either. I think the list of things I really love would be shorter. Here's a couple

surfing in August when the water's about the same temp as the air...

all the guys in my band...in a purely Spinal Tap kind of way :)

getting paid to sing and play music...

motorcycle rides with 3 or 4 of my buddies, hitting every single bar we pass...

I'll think of more... this is turning out to be tougher than I thought.

I'll be the one left standing behind you, looking the other way as you glance back at what you've lost.

I'll limit mine to my top 5 favorite things aside from the usual sex with hot girls and getting a huge paycheck for doing little work (Never happens).

5. Chicken Wings - Even though they're not the same as home, I can't get enough of the damn things. I actually have to limit myself to twice a month or I spend too much money and gain too much weight. Don't ever let anyone from down here talk you into Brews Room Wings. Blaaaaaaaaaagh. Honorable wing mentions....Raindrop by IUP, Murphy's Johnstown, Darkhorse State College, Red's Portage, ect ect, all for a different post.

4. Spending the nights at Raystown with good friends, plenty of rum, and the acoustic guitars. Drinking too much, waking up late to the smell of mountain air, getting on the lake for a morning of water skiing, jet skiing, and cliff diving, followed by an evening chilling some where around Coffee Run anchored, with a rum and coke, a fishing rod, and some good tunes. You know Buffet's "One Particular Harbor".....

3. Working with people in the studio. Helping them get those rehearsed/rehashed ideas into a album of songs. I love the look on clients faces when the music exceeds their expectations.

2. Weekend drives to the Keys. Jeep w/ No Doors, No top, Swimming trunks, 1 extra shirt, and 3 of your best friends. The 3 hour trip turns into 7 b/c of the stops for Mojitos and Rum Runners at Holiday Isle.

1. Those nights when you're performing (solo or with a band) and the people are just super into it. You all know what I'm talking about. The times you play longer, or play the dreadful "Brown Eyed Girl" one more time just because the cute waitress in the back requested it. Honorable Mentions for me: Urban Sprawl/Korkworm Cyanide @ RD's in Portage 1996; Silent Jake @ G-Man Thunder in the Valley 2001; Solo @ Blue Knob Mardi Gras, March 2003;Solo @ Hogs Breath Saloon, Key West, July 4, 2002.

That's why we all do this right?
