shoulda let er burn

Post by becky »

I am the soap opera of the century! if nothing else you guys and gals can get a good laugh out of our escapades and pitfalls! I got called back to the bar last nite after being away for only 15 minutes, what can I say she missed me so bad she had to throw a fit at 3 this morning! seems like she had the flu and puked thru her panel box, funny how a building gets possessed. small electrical difficulty, anyway I got pissed right off at her and ripped every breaker out of the box and shut her down completely, I remember vaguely someone screaming in the back ground about getting electrocuted but I was too fired up to give a shit. we have the official money pit, the movie was a walk in the park compared to this evil, self centered, ignorant fucking building! we knew there was a problem when it overheated during SKELL's last set on the 29th and we had to put a fan on it to cool it down to finish the night, well needless to say, we talked about what we were going to do and decided that we would call someone to check it out at the end of february, (stupid, stupid, stupid! )after we recovered some of the losses from the new well that had to be drilled,so, blah-blah-blah. the electrician will be there today and I am going to go wig shopping because if there is one more problem I am going to pull all of my fucking hair out! just wondering if I should have stood back and let her burn?

Yikes!

Having to put a fan on the breaker panel is NOT GOOD.
If you don't have a power distribution setup for the stage, now would be a good time to have one installed by a certified electrician.

I've been witness to a local club who had a handyman "expert" wire their stage power system. We checked the system because of bad noise coming through the PA, and found that the "expert" had grounded the system to a large natural gas line in the basement. If the connector had loosened up over time, it had the potential to arc through the gas line and blow up the whole block.

Be careful, and good luck with the outcome.
... and then the wheel fell off.

Baby steps, Becky. Obviously, the band had too much stuff, and my experience is that if they got it, they wanna set it up. You wouldn't let someone borrow your car and put the pedal to the floor, but some people would do just that if you let them. Again, you're the boss. Be the boss! :) ----->JMS

Wow Becky,

You really are having a hell of alot of problems. This must of happened right after we left??

I just wanted to let you know that we had a great time playing for all of you last night. OH, and thanks for the pizza!! Even though the crowd was small, it was definitely a QUALITY crowd. We always enjoy playing for people who appreciate GREAT LIVE MUSIC.

We are looking forward to the next gig at "POTATO HEADS AT WHO CARES"!! You folks are a CLASS ACT... and you deserve all of the success that WILL come your way!

You can inform some of your friends up there that the next time we play there we will be sure to bring our roll of DUCT TAPE. However, we will assume NO LIABILITY for the use of that tape. Man it was hilarious, as soon as she saw that roll of tape, her eyes got wide and almost started to drool. A true DUCT TAPE fetish.. I'm sure it had something to do with past experience with that item.

And to all of you who think "I don't have any reason to go all the way up to Brockway just to see a band.." Well I only have two words for you, SINGING PENIS. That alone is worth the gas money let alone any measly cover charge.

Once again, thanks for making us feel so welcome and appreciated.

almost immediately after, I walked in my door at home and the phone was ringing. reputable electricians are expensive! we have it under control now and we can continue, no big deal except everyone is getting a big kick out of me throwing a fit and calling the building an evil possessed bitch! they cannot seem to get over me acting like a 3 yr old and throwing shit around the building. hey at least I didn't break any of the mirrors!

we are just outside of brockway, what we are thinking is that when they drilled the new well and ran the "220" for the pump, they may have grounded it wrong or its drawing too much for some reason. no mishaps tonite though. we did a temporary job on it and will have the electrician working on it first thing monday.

I would suggest putting a fused disconnect close to the stage, with 60 amp fuses minimum. The panel should have a separate neutral and ground, per NEC regs. Any other questions, please ask.
