Help I need an 18" sub that can handle 650 watts good fast and cheap.
By Saturday 8-13.
Need it to replace a blown ev dl-18 transducer from a sxa180 powered cab.
What follows is pretty much a rant so skip it.
I called ev and they are pretty rude to customers with discontinued products.
I was told:
They would not service the product
They would not recommend a suitable replacement from theirs or any other mfg. product line.
They would not provide specifications so that I could find my own replacement.
ev sxa180 debuted in 2001 and they are already discontinued and telling customers to get lost and go call parts express.
I called parts express and they were great but overnight shipping costs more than the part.
Apparently I am not the only one are having problems with ev customer service.
Don't buy ev if you want your stuff to work. (this is not the first thing to go wrong with this system.)
Don't buy ev unless you like to be talked to like a stupid annoying brat.
There are plenty of other good brands to choose from.
sorry for the rant.

Yamaha all the way. Works forever without a problem. They treat you right too. Call them on the phone and speak to someone whose native language is English!!!
Now that's customer service!!!

Check Ford Music. If you know the impedance 4 or 8 ohm e.g. you should be able to pick up a Peavy Black widow at a reasonable price. The last time I looked the BW would handle more than 650watts. If you want an EV then there are several speaker replacement companies on line. If you are going that route I would recommend Eminence as a replacement.
I hope this helps. At one time Hollowood Music in Pittsburgh carried Peavy Raw Speakers also.
See Ken Oiler at Ford's he should be able to hook you up.

I buy from EV all the time for speaker cones coils and drivers. I've never had any issues with them.
The one time a voice coil shipped and did arrive at my shop damaged they shipped me a complete new recone kit.
I did look in my parts listings for the DL18. Ev lists no less than 14 variations of that driver. Each of those drivers have current recone kits
and are stocked.
Thats a very common driver.
