Allen Lee Estep -- original FORCES drummer, R.I.P.

Post by lonewolf »

My old friend and drummer Allen Estep has passed away. He was the original drummer for Forces and I spent many a night with him doing what 20-somethings do when they are in a band on the road. He will be sorely missed.

The Altoona Mirror ran a preliminary obit on their web site and will have the complete one Sunday:

"Allen Lee Estep, 57, Cresson, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at home. Arrangements are by Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson. A complete obituary will appear in Sunday's Mirror."

Allen was a power drummer who liked to play in the style of Denny Carmassi of Montrose. He wrecked his Harley in 1984 and suffered many problems afterward and had to quit the band. Over the years, his health was not good and deteriorated after he lost his daughter to a car accident a few years ago. I spoke with him about a month ago and he didn't sound well. God rest his aching soul.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

When you hear of such tragic life stories, you count the blessings that you have and stop feeling sorry for yourself. May he finally rest in peace!
