VHT

Post by marve »

Howdy all. I have a question. Ive been lookin into getting a small tube combo amp. Gettin away from digital. Ive looked into the new VHT special series and they seem to be cool. Anyone out there ever own a VHT amp? I just wanna know if they sound good and if they are reliable. Thanks.

vht amps are fine low end amps... i have a very nice Crate 3112v tube 1x12 amp that should sound better than the vht and a Peavey vypyr 30 w/sanpera pedal . and a few more.

VHTs are super high quality. they are REAALLLLY "dry" sounding, not saturated or 3 dimensional at all. very stiff. if you dig that that sound (i don't personally- to each his own) you will prob really dig the VHT stuff...

im actually hooked on the good old Marshall 800 sound. They are just too much power for me. My digitech gnx3000 does a good job replicating it...but its not the same. And it has way more shit in it than i need. Thats why im lookin for a small tube amp and tryin to unload the digitech. It would be of better use to someone whos into all the million things it does. Thanks guys

If you want to be a purest, Fryettes are now the "real" VHTs.

My guitarist has a 50 watt VHT power amp that he uses for smaller gigs. I'd describe the sound as a very saturated and full. I'd agree with Jason on the description of stiff and not three-dimensional. It's not quite as aggressive sounding as the Mesa Simul-class that he uses for larger gigs. We both really dig the VHT.

I have a Pignose G40V tube combo I might be willing to part with. It is 40 watts and has a 10" speaker. It works good as a practice amp, and can get
suprisingly loud if need to gig with it. It is only single channel, but does have gain and master volume so you can adjust your gain structure for clean or dirt.
It uses 12ax7 preamp tubes and 2 6L6's for power. If you're interested PM me!

I bought a VHT Special 6...Got it new for 175 bucks...

I really dig the sound.

I have a Fender Deluxe and I love the clean channel but the dirty sounds like crap...

The VHT has a nice natural sound to it...you will really be able to tell if your guitar is a pos or not (imo).
