One of the area’s longest-running annual benefit concerts will return next month after a one-year absence. The 20th annual “End Of Summer Jam” benefit for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh will also have a new name, the “Kids Come First Benefit; 20th End Of Summer Jam.” The show will happen on Saturday, August 20, at the Cresson Sportsmen’s Club. Keep tuned to the “Homegrown Rocker” in coming weeks for more details about this event as they come together.
Good things continue to happen for Candlelight Red. The group has landed a series of tour dates in support of Saving Abel running from July through September throughout the south, midwest and northeast. Candlelight Red’s debut CD for Imagen Records, The Wreckage, will be released sometime in late summer or early fall.
A new rock band has hit the stages in recent weeks. Ambush features several former members of Not Them Guys. Jamie Shumac sings and plays drums, John Buterbaugh plays lead guitar, Kip Woodring sings and plays guitar, and Big Jim Ricotta plays bass and sings. Ambush plays classic rock from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, and made their official debut last weekend at an outdoor party near Bald Eagle.
