I just went and picked up my Mesa on Saturday afternoon after Ken fixed the graphic EQ on it. I always take my stuff to Ford's because A). I know that Ken will fix it and fix it right, and B). I know he won't charge me through the nose on labor.

Not true at all. I've sub contracted there for 35 years and I know pianos.MistValkyrie wrote: I don't know about the rest of the store personnel, I've known people who've worked their and said they were a bunch of assholes. Plus, they get free or cheap pianos and mark the prices up like 200%.
They don't get pianos for nothing. They do take trade ins.
On a used piano there is plenty of overhead.
Moving it to the store. Pay a technician to make any and all repairs, adjustments and tuning ( for instance, I just finished prepping a used Baldwin that will cost the store over $200 because they won't sell a piano unless it is gone over and tuned to A440). Delivery when sold. Customer gets a free tuning after it's sold (pay the technician again). Make a profit on top of that to cover salesmen, and other normal overhead like heating and air conditioning, secretary etc.. And finally a profit for the store.
If I see any problem on a piano that Fords sold I fix it and bill the store and there are never any questions. That includes new and used pianos.
Plus I've seen them go out of their way to repair pianos that were out of warranty out of their own pocket.
Attacking a music store's reputation based on a hearsay from a former disgruntled employee on a public forum is just not cool.
EDIT: Add to this, that Ken Oyler doesn't charge an arm and a leg is actually Ford Music Store not charging an arm and a leg because they pay Ken Oyler plus benefits.
