pork pie

Post by slackin@dabass »

Any one have any experience with the pork pie little squealer drumsets?

That one specifically. I read on mfs reviews that they "detune quickly" and was wondering how true that is. Really wanting one of these right now. Like wanna sell my pdps for these.

I know that Robthedrummer has a Pork Pie snare. I don't know anyone that has a whole PP drumset.

As far as the ad goes, I don't buy into the "Pork Pie drums are coveted and played by drummers all over the world." stuff. Every PP snare that I've heard has a brutally horrible ring to it. Just not my style. Drum Workshop makes fine drumsets in the Pacific line, I'd say hold on to your PDP's.

Thats why i bought the pdps. I bought the x7 back before they were maple. They still sound good being made of poplar, but i think i may be missing the attack only maple can really provide. No shit i bought my drums and like 2 or 3 months later they released they same thing for the same price but with maple shells lol. I loooove robs pp snare. Thats why i was so intrigued by the sets. I've also seen that dw just released the "performance series" and they look bad assed as well, but about 400 bucks more for the same sizes and configed shell pack as the pork pies. The extra dough may be worth it.

Anyone have any suggestions regardless of brand? Mid-level maple kits that you have had experience with. Be it that you saw a guy playing out on one or a buddy of yours has one or your son or daughter has one. Im just interested in quality and tone. Tell me what you know!

The ONLY way to know enough about a kit is to go play it, regardless of what anyone has to say about it. Go to Dale's and play play play.
