HOMEGROWN ROCKER 6/12/11 (MINDSPINE)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 12 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to our guests this week, State College hard rockers Mindspine (https://www.facebook.com/Mindspine), for an interesting and insightful discussion about the new edition of the band, their music, live show and more. (Thanks also to Dave Moses for the use of his F.U.P. Studio for this week’s interview.) We learned about Mindspine, and heard newly recorded songs from them! Along the way, we updated “Local Music News,” dug a 2000 song by Love In Ruins from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Zelazowa’s Love Is Lunacy CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

WIDE OPEN – “Revin’ It Up”
NAILDRIVER – “Executioner”
MINDSPINE – “Forgotten You”
E.V.K. – “Without You”
MINDSPINE – “Brainwashed”
COINMONSTER – “Low Profile Car”
MINDSPINE – “Barbed Wire Stitches”

HOUR TWO:

THE EMBALMED – “Year of the Jackal”
MINDSPINE – “Move”
ZELAZOWA – “A Fool Have You”
MINDSPINE – “Cross That Line”
LOVE IN RUINS – “Soul to Save” (2000, Local Music Flashback)
MINDSPINE – “Monster”

On our next program, we celebrate Father’s Day by honoring family traditions on the area music scene. Our “Father’s Day Special” edition will explore music-making families of the area music scene; we’ll hear tunes from local and regional dads, moms, sons and daughters, including songs featuring entire families! Along the way, we’ll update “Local Music News,” and review E.V.K.’s Fat Vinny Was Here CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” We celebrate local music scene family traditions on the “Father’s Day Special” edition of the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:
