i think the owner of a pro football was a gazzionaire BEFORE ownership. that;'s how he could afford to buy it in first place.RobTheDrummer wrote:It really shows what the owners think about their fans.....you know, the people who made them their billions....
Did you know that Paul Allen is principle owner of Seahawks AND the Portland Trail Blazers?

ahh to be that rich!
does owning a pro football team actually make you money or is it just another extravagance of incredible wealth?

The difference with football is that we will have college football to fall back on.
I know that many of you probably like pro and don't bother with college, but its just this kind of professional bullshit that makes me like college ball more than pro.

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
I guarantee if it drags into October and November some fans WILL lose interest. It happened to hockey and it happened to baseball. I was one of those fans actually who LOVED baseball and then turned my back on it when the strike hit.
If the commish could prevent it I'm pretty sure he would, but it's not up to him unfortunately. He's just one guy who oversees the league. At this point its up to the players and owners to get it right. Even the judge told them, I highly suggest you work it out, because neither side is going to bed if the courts get involved.
And it's also unfortunately just as much the player's fault as it is the owners. The blame can and SHOULD be directed to both sides. Sadly, WE are the ones who stand to lose here. The people who bought jerseys, and tickets, and merchandise, and etc etc etc. As well as the 'other' people who have jobs in the NFL such as announcers, coaches, cheerleaders, ushers etc etc etc.
And Jeff you know first-hand I'm not big on college ball. But if these overly-greedy owners and players can't get it together and they screw up my year. I'm definitely gonna have to watch college ball more attentively!
And Merge you are partially right. There is no games being played in June. But I was referring to more of the off-season. Trades, and free agent signings. And training camp would normally begin in a month or so. If the teams can't get started soon, even if they DO have a full season, those first 6 games or so will look more like pee-wee league than pro football. The rookies, first year pros, and even the new free agent acquisitions will have no time to gel with their new teams.
Just get it done you greedy assholes!!! I want my football!
