I am thinking about trading my PRS.

Post by f.sciarrillo »

I am finding that I do not like the width of the neck. I like the thinner ones better. I know I was asked about the neck, I just didn't think that it would make such a difference.

Anyway, have any of you experienced that before?

I'm not sure what one I want to get now. I do know that I don't want the arch radius fret board and wide neck.

Do you mean the thickness? The width is the distance from side to side.

Here is a rundown of the PRS neck profiles:

Two of my PRS guitars have the wide/thin neck and two have the standard neck. Although there is a noticeable difference, I haven't decided which profile I like better.

Looking at that chart tells me a lot.

I have the wide fat version. Although the PRS regular width is not really much different.

The Wide Fat is 1 11/16 wide or 1.6875 inches.
The Regular is 1 21/32 wide or 1.65625 inches.

Three tenths of a difference in width? A Fender Strat neck is 1 4/7 or 1.57 inches wide. There is quite a difference between them. I learned something new today. It is amazing how such a small amount can make such a big difference.

Looking at that chart, it looks as though they only make the SE models in the WIDE width. In that case, if you are looking for a PRS with a standard width, plan on spending an extra grand or so.

If you sell your SE, I might be able to help you out with a mint, factory condition, not even a reflection swirl PRS KL1812 Korina...one of only 100 made. This is the real deal and is collectible. I have 2 of these and use one as a "player." I might sell the one I never get out of its case...the "collector." Once you get your hands on one, you may decide that you don't like standard necks either.

The standard width isn't that much of a difference. So basically what I am saying is that I will probably get something that isn't a PRS.

Yes, the standard width IS that much of a difference. I can tell the difference every time I change guitars. PAY ATTENTION

And look at the edit on my other post.

I don't understand how 3/10 can make such a difference. I will have to try one out to see I guess. Those Korinas do look pretty nice, that is for sure.
