Nirvana has always been my number 1 most overrated.

Michael Jackson (there are a couple songs I like, but nowhere near enough for me to think of him as a king of anything)

Slayer (not saying they're not good, just overrated in my opinion)

I can't knock on Nickelback too much, their older stuff I thought was amazing. When it was between Nickelback and 3 Doors Down, I was Nickelback all the way, and still am. Not to switch gears in mid-thought though, but after their popularity sky rocketed, it seemed like Nickelback and Staind are in a race. I like Staind the way I like Nickelback. Loved them in the beginning, hate them now. Like the general public grabbed a hold of one of their more mellow songs, made it number one on a few MTV and VH1 countdowns, and then went tunnel vision making the next albums making sure there was a song, or 2, or 10, that would relate to that 1.

When I think Nickelback, I think "Leader of Men". Everyone else thinks, that something in your mouth song.

When I think Staind, I think "Mudshovel" and "For You". Everyone else thinks "So Far Away" and "Right Here"

I cringed when I read the words 'Nickelback' and 'amazing' in the same sentence. But that is the fun that was intended for this post to begin with.

I definitely agree with what everyone's saying about the Dead being overrated. With that said, I always thought that Jerry Garcia's songwriting was UNDERRATED.

I unapologetically like Nickelback - solid musicianship, hook-laden songwriting, tight vocal harmonies, and Chad Kroeger has a great voice. Okay, some of their lyrics are pretty damn inane. I remember when How You Remind Me came out. It was honestly one of the only decent things on mainstream modern rock radio at the time.

I also love the old Stain'd stuff too. They're probably the only good thing that Fred Durst has done in his life.

P.S. - Courtney Love wrote all their songs...
I'm sure your opinion is held in high regard.

P.S. - Ah, No she didn't.

You should, at least, kinda know what you're talking about before you post something this retarded.
Well even if he is wrong on the Courtney Love part, his opinion is held in some regard, since Nirvana has been a common denominator!!
Hey man, it was an idiotic statement. I agree, they're overrated but to but to push his opinon of them being pathetic on high school kids along with his assinine remark or courtney writing his songs just tells me he's probably a giant douche nozzle. Just sayin.

That's an interesting choice. Mind if I ask why you picked it? I'm not criticizing your choice; I'm just interested, because I never really thought of Hank Jr. as being someone who's highly acclaimed.

In the country world, Hank Williams, Jr. has been handed tons of awards including several country entertainer of the year awards. He can't sing. Also, I had the displeasure of seeing him live twice and he was awful. His backup band (The Bama Band) was good and carried him.

Ahh, I see. I really don't keep up with awards, so I didn't know. I do know that he had a tendency to miss shows in his earlier years.

I personally think George Thorogood is UNDERRATED. Slide guitar is a lost art. Since Duane Allman died, not many have been able to carry the torch. George Thorogood is one of them. Plus hes from Delaware. I tend to forget they are even a state...
Videos destroyed the vitality of rock and roll. Before that, music said, "Listen to me." Now it says, "Look at me."

(As per those who are attacking my knowledge and character)

Woooooooooooo Boys.

You best read "The Dave Grohl Story" and other chronicles regarding the back story of Nirvana. (which I have)

In Dave's books he talks about them not having enough material approved by Sub Pop so Kurt took lyrics (if you would like to call it poetry) that Courtney had written and was working on... which turned out to be.
On Bleach: School, Paper Cuts, Sifting
(live) - Blew

Kurt continued to use Courtney's material for the remaining albums (including songs such as)

In Bloom, Drain You, Lounge Act, Serve the Servants, Milk It, Heart-Shaped Box, (and my favorite) Rape Me

It is well known that during the recording of "In Utero" that Bob Ludwig praised Heart Shaped Box and believed it was the best song on the album and this made Kurt furious...and caused tension between the band because he wanted to take it off the album.

Dave breaks alot of barriers... many believed that Courtney and Kurt met in 1990...that is inaccurate...

Courtney actually dated DAVE first. She began spending time with Kurt in 1989.

----
I'll stop now... I don't want this to turn into the history of Nirvana but I just wanted to set the status.

I got your back bro....Nirvana blows no matter who wrote their craptastic music...and I use the word 'music' very loosely!! But gotta agree David Grohl and company are WAAAAAAAAAY better than Nirvana. I can't name a Nirvana song that doesn't jump start a vomit. But there is half a dozen or so Foo Fighter songs I think are decent.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that doesn't get the whole Grateful Dead thing! Thought I'd get creamed on that one from some local "Dead Heads"! Funny though, probably most of those guys have never even seen them, let alone followed them around the country in a tricked-out VW bus!

The Grateful Dead and The White Stripes. I don't get anything that either band created.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

Well I've been a fan of this overrated band and have read a good bit on them over the years and have never run across any of this. I'll check out the Grohl story and I'll try to find something to back your story up. If I do, I'll recant my douche nozzle remark but I'm just not buying it. I'm kinda wondering why you seem to know so much about a band you deem so pathetic.

Because,
As I preach to the youngins'

It's best to know about your enemies AND your friends.

I once was a fan...but after I learned how to play instruments and started to research Kurt Cobain I lost interest in the band and lost total respect for the individual...

may he rest in peace.

You know who else is OVER RATED...

Alice In Chains was a trillion times the band Nirvana ever thought about being. And Cobain was nothing compared to Layne Staley.

+1000000000000000000000000000000000000000 AIC is the best band out of Seattle, they are even better than Pearl Jam, who are also way too over rated. Ten was a great album, Vs was an o.k album, Vitality and the next 20 live albums after that sucked.
