Most Over-rated bands

Post by sstuckey »

Alot of threads are based on favorites....favorite guitarists, bassists, drummers, bands etc. etc. I'm sure this topic will stir up alot of controversy, but should make for interesting discussions. Here's mine...go ahead and chew me out for it...
(In no particular order)

Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Nickleback

Tie between Nickleback and Nirvana for my MOST over-rated and hated bands of all-time. Any more 'hits' by Buck Cherry, and they make my list as well.

I would say nirvana as well. But the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the Stones influenced way too many people to be over rated. Then that is just me. I would also add Aerosmith the list of over rated (Well anything from Permanent Vacation on).

I used to say Metallica is way too over rated, but I have a new respect for them. So I will just keep them out of it.

I'm gonna say Disturbed. I love their old stuff, but lately every newer song from them sounds the same to me. Just change the lyrics. Totally agree with Buckcherry, Nirvana, and Nickleback. My friggin' ears bleed every time I hear that shit.

Nirvana for sure. I have always felt Dave Grohl had much more to do with their success than he was ever given credit for.

Nickelback is probably the most hated band in the world at this point.

I, really dont like the Beatles at all, but they did so much for music that I dont think they could ever be considered overrated.
Videos destroyed the vitality of rock and roll. Before that, music said, "Listen to me." Now it says, "Look at me."

I was never a huge Nirvana fan, but I love the Foo Fighers. I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognizes the awesomeness that is David Grohl. All personal accounts I've heard about him say that he's a really cool cat too.

I always felt that Radiohead was overrated. I've tried listening to them, but I just never "got" them, I suppose.

Love the Foo Fighters. Watched a 3 hour documentary/interview on them on VH1. It was awesome. I was pretty well mesmerized the whole time.

I like radiohead a lot, but I can see how they would be a love/hate type of band.

I dig the beetles and zeppelin. I love AC/DC (maybe more than any other classic rock band), too, but I think for what they do musically they are overrated. Even so, there is something to be said about making variations of three chords sound awesome on so many different tracks.

Add Kiss to the list of most over rated in history.

Talent they lack, but Gene Simmons is a marketing genius.

P.S. - Courtney Love wrote all their songs...

Any band that plays solely for money, rather than the art, is over rated.

That's a bit vague Rob, you have any examples?

Bryan Adams
Michael Bolton
Aerosmith
Def Leppard (except for High N Dry and maybe Pyromania)
Bob Seger
Motley Crue (after the first two albums)
Metallica (between And Justice for All and Death Magnetic)

Some bands are like a sit com. They're great at first then they "jump the shark".

I'm sure your opinion is held in high regard.

P.S. - Ah, No she didn't.

You should, at least, kinda know what you're talking about before you post something this retarded.

Well even if he is wrong on the Courtney Love part, his opinion is held in some regard, since Nirvana has been a common denominator!!
