Trump droppin' F*BOMBS!

On that day, the rightwingers will celebrate. I hear NOBODY wanting to fix SocSec, Medicare, Welfare, Dept Of Education, EPA, The Fed, etc. I only seem to hear that those should END in the name of Big Government.
You can't have your cake and eat it, too. You can't end SocSec and not have old people eating dogfood, a la the Reagan years. You can't end public education and compete in a world market with countries that provide an education for everyone. You can't deregulate any business and not expect those businesses to play dirty (they ALWAYS do, immediately).
In short, joe, you can't take gov't back to 1912 levels. Can't be done. Unless you also take population levels back (66% fewer people). Take the military back to pre-WWI strength. Take the literacy rate back to that point (25%?). Infant mortality back. Antitrust laws. Highways could no longer exist. Cancer and other gov't medical research. NASA. Tens of thousands of businesses would not exist if not for SBA loans, so Big Biz would own you, like they did then. Banks would cease to exist, as they are guaranteed by govt backing. Flooding would still kill a few thousand every year, and once a natural disaster happened, that area would just cease to exist. Criminals could just go to another state and do more crimes. It goes on and on, but you just can't consider these things, because you have a set vision of how things "work," that you never have to put any effort into... it's repeated over and over to you every day, by people who say those things in exchange for money. Of course they're going to tell you that rich is good and poor is lazy, that pay inequality must be protected, and that anyone who disagrees is, in fact, the problem. Of course.
What stuns and sickens me is the incredible number of people who believe and follow an ideology that is not in their own self-interest. Why would so many SocSec recipients support the end of a system they paid into their whole working lives? Why would an elderly person choose to allow an insurance agent to end their coverage if it has to pay "too much?" Why would a parent want to take money from his kids' public school, and give it to kids who can already afford to go to a private school? None of it makes any sense, but for the soothing repetition and re-validation those people get from their media. Patriotic, or just pathetic?

Everything is gonna fall if we dont get a handle on spending. Regardless of whos in power.undercoverjoe wrote:Bill, it is going to eliminate itself if something is not done soon. That is hard to do when the dems yell that your are killin grandma every time. The dems will see the program fail without fixing it, using fear and hatred.Hawk wrote:No Joe, Fix it, cool. Wanting to eliminate it, not cool.undercoverjoe wrote:Hawk, whenever anyone starts talking about fixing Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security, the democrats say they want to hurt children, and starve grandma, and throw grandpa out of the hospital. Fearmongering???
The democrats are just as good at creating fear and hatred of their opponents as are the republicans.

Maybe eliminate foreign aid and pulling our troops out of every country that we have bases in. You know, putting them all back in our country to do that thing theyre meant for... whats it called? Oh yea... defense.

I'd like to see all our ground troops brought back to the US and station many of them in a military base that consists of a two lane highway with 20' fences on either side that stretches from the Gulf Of Mexico along the Mexican border to the Pacific ocean. There would be a platoon barracks located every 5 miles and it would be each platoon's duty to patrol their 5 mile territory.
When not on patrol, there would be various larger facilities for training purposes.
This base would be cheaper than I-80!
