FANTASY AIRLIFT 1980 - Live at the Country Pub - Patton, PA
FANTASY AIRLIFT was based in Tyrone, PA and was active from 1979 til 1981.
Sometime in the Spring of 1980, we played at "The Country Pub" in Patton. Bob Helbig (musician and entertainer extraordinaire, now with "The Boomers") recorded our performance live on a Teac 80-8 (8 Channel 1/2 inch reel to reel tape recorder), and engineered a set of 6 songs entitled, "Fantasy Airlift Live at the Country Pub - Patton, PA". We have no video of the band, only a very few pictures, so I started to create a video presentation for each of these soundtracks. If you've never done this, let me tell you, this is a lot of time-consuming, tedious work! Each of these took me about a week to complete, but it was a labor of love. So, for Fantasy Airlift fans everywhere , here I offer the first two of the six tracks.
Enjoy. John H.

John,
That was really good. It is always very cool to go back and listen to some of the regional bands from years gone by and how good many of them were. I never got to see and hear Fantasy Airlift when the band was together and this was a great treat. I have lots of audio and video of some of my old bands too.
So, when are you going to wear that outfit agian?
By the way, what instrument did the St. Pauli girl play?

Music Rocks!
No Joe, "Airlift" never covered any "Byrds". The only time I've ever done any Byrds was with the "RamRods" in the mid "90's". Did the earily stuff with the "Rickenbacker" 12 string.undercoverjoe wrote:Andy, did you cover any Byrds?

I saw that "Byrds" line-up of the youtube vid you just posted about 4 months later than that vid. They played Junieta College in Huntington the winter of "70-71". I was a senior in High school. What an expirence! I was so young and backward. 1st there was a "warm-up" band, then a long wait because the Byrds plane was late. It was general admission and I had wormed my way right up against the stage on the Mcguinn side and we were sitting on the floor of the gym. Everybody there except me and my high school buddy starts lighting up "joints". I mean everybody! There's cops standing around on the landings and nobody's saying nothing. They offer joints to me but being the all American Boy from a "Leave it to Beaver " family, I politely refuse. Roadies of the Byrds are frantically hooking all the stuff up but peroidically leaning over the stage and hitting joints from people in the audience.
Finally the "Byrds" come on and it's just like your video.

You the man. What a great concert story. The Byrds played at the U. of Scranton, the very first weekend (Sept '72) of my college career, and I think for the next 4 to 5 years, we went to a concert every weekend. Boy do I miss those days.RamRod 1 wrote:No Joe, "Airlift" never covered any "Byrds". The only time I've ever did any Byrds was with the "RamRods" in the mid "90's".
