To be completely honest I am surprised it took this long. He had been in bad shape for awhile. I always admired his bass playing, especially on Rain When I Die. Alot of AIC fans only know Mike Inez but Mike Starr played bass on alot of their groundbreaking work. R.I.P.

It's just amazing how quickly they burst out of the ground, coming into our lives and giving us something to hope for and ways to keep going in this world, and how quickly they themselves leave this world, falling from the grace that we give them through their upholding ourselves. RIP. I saw this on the news last night. They were saying that he was facing charges for drug possession. That does suck. AIC are my favorite band out of Seattle.

i don't get it. You have everything you ever wanted, doing what you love to do, money, fame, and you have to get into stuff like that. Unless you only got into the business so you would have the money to support your habit. I have been in different bands, had no need or desire to drink til I couldn't function, or not high enough from the fact that I was playing that I needed something else. to each his own I guess.

Well, Mike Starr had been out of the band long before Staley died, didn't have many songwriting credits with AIC (which of course equals the major money made once all of the tour money's all gone), and hadn't been landing the solid gigs with Ozzy, Black Label Society, and Heart like his replacement, Mike Inez, has been; so I'd hesitate to think that Starr was living it up in the lap of luxury and fame.

Either way, it's very sad that he had to check out. Our drummer, Jim, is a huge AIC fan, so I know it's hitting him hard.

I think sometimes the worst part about achieving your dreams is the realization that once you reach your destination, you have nowhere to go. You realize that you had a lot of fun on the journey to here, but now the journey's over, and people expect much more of you. If guys like us worry about $500 gigs, how much would we worry about a $50,000 gig? A $500,000 gig?
It sucks, man. I can see why people burn a weed, but I can't figure out why someone would willingly ingest something that could easily kill them RIGHT NOW, or slowly and painfully over time.
