A very good band to come out in the 80's was called Fast Forward. Check out the lineup. Three of the songs were written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. Even with this level of people, the band did not get far.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20pG_qNk ... re=related

Ian Lloyd – Lead Vocals - He was with Stories, and sang on lots of songs with Foreigner, Yes, Billy Joel, Peter Frampton, Survivor, Ian McDonald, and many others.
Jim Vallance – Drums (he cowrote lots of hits with Bryan Adams, .38 Special, & others) Keith Scott – Guitar
David Sinclair – Guitar
Bob Rock – Guitar (He has produced lots of hit records)
Beau Hill – Keyboards & Backing Vocals
Dave Pickell – Keyboards
Brian Newcombe – Bass

Producers Bruce Fairbairn & Ian Lloyd

Barry Manilow's 1983's hit pop soft rock song Some Kind Of Friend. Sad to say I played this song when it was new.

Nothing wrong with Manilow, he wrote some good songs. In any case, talking about Manilow and his 80's hits; "I made it through the rain" is my favorite. I've always had a guilty pleasure for this kind of music.

Ever hear the original verson of Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Robert Hazard

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aLNwOxPsjg

The song was written by Robert Hazard, who recorded it in 1979. He wrote it from a male point of view. For Lauper's version, she changed the lyrics slightly to allow it to be performed by a female and Hazard approved the minor changes. Her version appeared on her 1983 debut solo record, She's So Unusual

Great song but that is not an 80s song. It came out in 1970.

Deep Purple were/are great period, no matter what year they came out. I love anything they do.

The Doobs are also great. However, Long Train running originally came out in 1973 :)

They are some great songs you have there, though. I will be listening to them all night now.

My all time favorite song from ZZ Top is "Blue Jeans Blues". But it came out in the 70's.
