Drummers, tired of playing the same fills over & over ?
Drummers, tired of playing the same fills over & over ?
Do you have a problem with fills ?
Do you resort to playing the same fills over and over ?
Do you have any trouble inventing new fills ?
Do your fills fit the music you play ?
I've been working on a concept regarding fills. (Not that my abilities are anything special, they're not.) But I can think of more fills than I can play. In fact, I hardly have to think of them, because the possibilities seem nearly infinite ! Once you absorb the concept, your own passion, effort and dedication will dictate the outcome.
I see on drummers forums, drummers complain they can't think of new fills. They look for "a book of fills". This IS NOT a book of fills. It is a methodology to allow YOU to create endless amounts of fills. Having an endless supply can be a nice resource "in the pocket".
(There will also be a discussion about "over playing". )
I would like to share this concept with 15 to 20 drummers who are interested.
ALL LEVELS of proficiency would be preferred, because I think this system of thinking will improve anyone at any skill level.
You DO NOT need to know how to read music.
You DO NOT need to know the drummers' list(s) of rudiments.
(If you do read music and you do know all of the rudiments, I think this concept is equally good for you too.)
This is not a clinic on how to play drums. You must already be a drummer.
It IS NOT anything complicated or earth shaking. It is actually quite simple.
All I want back is some feedback on somewhat of a regular basis relative to your progressi. Like: Did it help you ? Do you find that the more you use it the easier it gets ? Or perhaps you think it's stupid. And other assorted questions.
I don't have a date in mind yet because I first need to find out if anyone is even interested. Likely meeting place will be Ford Music Store in Altoona.
I'll point out again so no one thinks this is an ego thing, it's not. My abilities are perhaps average at best. It's just a concept I would like to share and I might actually finish a book on the subject. I would expect that anyone who absorbs the concept and works at it will / should be better than me.
It will work for any genre, Metal, Prog, Pop, Etc..

Tell me how long you have been playing and what your training / background is.
Self taught drummers or drummers with formal lessons are all welcomed.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Thank You,
Bill

I would love to have you there. You already play great grooves. This would just give you a way to think about fills to add to your good grooves.ToonaRockGuy wrote:If I can make a date work with my schedule, I'm way there. I need some fresh ideas, my drumming is really in a rut. I need to get some inspiration.
