Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the February 13 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
Thanks to our in-studio guests this week, Mike, Paul and Brook of rising Altoona area rockers The Good Seeds (http://www.facebook.com/thegoodseeds), as well as The Underground for furnishing the studio for this week’s interview. We met the band members and learned The Good Seeds’ story, and heard several songs the group has recorded toward their debut CD, expected to be released in mid-summer. The musicians also brought acoustic instruments and played two songs live for us as well. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Allegory, Rain Must Fall, Jen Bertiaux and G211. We also updated “Local Music News,” dug a 1999 song by Bedford’s Trinity Six from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Graces Downfall’s Always The Victim CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Thanks to everyone who chose to tune in to this week’s program over the Grammy Awards; while we applaud all who won Grammys this year, we also believe that by supporting bands and artists on the backyard level, we encourage their dreams and help pave the way to someone from our own backyard to perhaps someday pick up their own Grammy!
Here is this week's playlist:
HOUR ONE:
THE HOPE FALLACY – “Over and Out”
CONNER GILBERT – “Here’s to the Days”
THE GOOD SEEDS – “Poor Me”
ALLEGORY – “Actress”

With no guest scheduled next week, we’ll use the opportunity to get caught up on CD’s and recordings that have arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. We’ll debut plenty of new tunes, and along the way update “Local Music News,” review Halestorm’s new Live In Philly 2010 CD/DVD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” dig another song from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and spotlight a band/artist from out of state in our “Across State Lines” feature. However you slice it, it will be maximum local and regional music on the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!
Upcoming guests and specials include:
FEB. 27 – MILLENNIUM MUSIC CONFERENCE RECAP
MARCH 6 – RAIN MUST FALL
MARCH 13 – MILLENNIUM CONTEST WINNER
MARCH 27 – STERLING KOCH

Some former members of late ‘80s/early ‘90s Centre County rockers WiseCrack! have reunited in a new band project. Singer Terri Confer, guitarist Dusty Kramers and drummer Mike Hohnka have come back together in the new band Armed and Ready, with Rob Bastian on bass. The group plays popular hard rock spanning the ‘70s to now. Armed and Ready recently started playing shows on various north-central Pennsylvania stages.
