My boss is in Vegas, taking a small vacation following the consumer electronics show. He sent me this pic from Treasure Island.

Thanks Bobby... I couldn't pass up the chance to make a smart-ass reply.

One of my first concerts in the early '80s was seeing some guy named Ozzy opening up for Motörhead at the War Memorial in Johnstown. What a show... Lemmy, Ozzy, and Randy Rhodes all under the same roof... with festival seating.

Motörhead has a grammy nomination this year in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the song "Whiplash"... and Lemmy couldn't care less LOL.

Gotta correct you, Ron...Motorhead opened for Ozzy at the War Memorial! I was there, it was my first concert ever. And it was so loud my ears rang for a week afterward, all I could hear was reverb!

But Lemmy, Ozzy and Randy Rhoads under one roof was legendary!

All hail Lemmy, he of the too-tall mic stand and facial Coco-Puffs! I was introduced to Motorhead by an episode of Young Ones, a British comedy that used to play on MTV. BBC America still carries it. They did "Ace of Spades," and it was punk as hell. I loved it. Lemmy claims he roadie'd for Hendrix, anyone ever hear that?----->JMS

I stand corrected, JP. All I remembered was that we were there to see Motörhead. At that time I knew who Lemmy was, but not Ozzy. Was that in 1980? I remember skipping school that day and drinking before noon. It was also my first concert. A lot of that day is a blur, but I puked on the way there (after 4 beers) and was fairly sober by the time the show started. Hehe. Whatta lightweight.

I saw Motörhead a second time in '91 at the Starlake on "Operation Rock & Roll", a festival type tour with a lot of good bands: Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Motörhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Dangerous Toys, and more. I think that may have been Priest's last tour with Halford singing.

Lemmy did roadie for Hendrix, then spend time in the Rocking Vicars before joining Hawkwind in 1971. He then got fired by Hawkwind in 1975 when he got into drug problems during a U.S. tour. That paved the way for Lemmy to form Motorhead.

Yeah JS, that's true. He worked for Hendrix for about 6 months.
There is also an untrue rumour that Lemmy taught Sid Vicious how to play bass.

Motorhead and The Young Ones in the same thread!! This Rockpage community kicks ass!!

I recently rented all the Young Ones episodes from the local video store and watched them all in one sitting....aside from Spinal Tap, thats about the funniest shit I've ever seen. (well, unless you include Lemmy's moly moly mole and that internet video of Danzig getting beat up)

Hawkwind firing Lemmy for having drug problems: that would be like Pink Floyd firing Roger Waters because he had a poster of Timothy Leary.........or Bad Daze firing Paul because he has an avatar of Albert Hofmann. :D
