Henrik Ostergaard passed away!

Post by MoonManTom »

Sad News to report! Ditrty Looks Frontman passed away this morning!
I loved those guys! Henrik was an awesome guy! Never forget my 23rd Birthday at Club Met in Harrisburg, he pulled me up on stage, wished me a Happy Birthday, then tilited my head back, and poured Jack Daniels down my throat!

Gonna Miss those guys!

Wow, a shocker...

Henrik was one of a kind. He had personality and charisma, and was one of those folks you never forgot once you met him.

I only ever got to see Henrik with Dirty Looks once, when they played at 30 Something a couple of years ago with Half Tempted opening. It was cool to see Henrik and Ronny D jamming together on stage that night.

I saw several of Henrik's other projects when they came through town, such as Taar, Rumbledog and Burning Orange.

My favorite Henrik story, though, happened early in my radio career. Back when Jay Randyll and I did "All Night Album Rock" on WFBG, we booked an interview with Dirty Looks for the show. This was while they were still indie label, and before they had signed with Atlantic. The interview was supposed to be with Jack Pyers, who was supposed to come to the station to record the interview. I didn't really know what Jack looked like, as I only saw him from afar once with Harpo in the early '80s. Anyway, the night of the interview arrived, and "Jack" showed up at WFBG and recorded the interview. The interview went fine, but I discovered a few days afterward it wasn't Jack who showed up; but Henrik (who I also hadn't seen before and didn't recognize at the time). Henrik did the interview, never letting on that he wasn't Jack...They probably had a good laugh about that!

As I recall, Henrik also wanted to buy Pennsylvania Musician Magazine a few years ago, and made Robin an offer. Robin didn't want to part with it at that point.

I'll have to get a copy of Dirty Looks' I.C.U. CD.

Rest in peace, Henrik, and thanks for some crazy memories.

Here's another report of Henrik's passing from an Erie website, where he was from. According to this story, he was apparently under hospice care at the time of his passing:

RIP Henrik. It's time to break out those Dirty Looks cd's and pay a tribute all weekend. Maybe even play Cool from the Wire on Sat. night.

Damn that sux... We used to open for them back in the 80's (Tommi Gunn) and I'll never forget the night we played the Scorpion in State College.... The owner went downstairs and left all us band guys alone in the bar for like an hour after we played..... Jack jumped behind the bar and started pouring all these shots and making really stiff drinks... The owner came back and was pissed we drank all the booze so Jack and him got in a fight in the alley and he ends up throwing the guys huge keychain with every key he ever owned on to the 5 story building next doors roof.... Wasn't too funny that night, but later it sure as hell was... haha.....
