Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the January 9 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
Thanks to our in-studio guest this week, Bedford-based singer/songwriter Jackson Monsour (www.jacksonmonsour.com), for a fun two hours! Jackson enlightened us about his latest happenings, including his newly-released self-titled CD. We heard tracks from the album, and three lucky listeners called in to win copies! Jackson also brought acoustic guitar and harmonica along, and performed two songs live! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Halestorm, The Primer Greys, Monster Track Supergroup, The Good Seeds and Sterling Koch. We dug into the archive to pull out a 1997 song by The Groove Junkies for a “Local Music Flashback,” and we reviewed Jason Davoli’s Homegrown CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” A busy week!

In Local Music News…
A benefit show will take place later this month to help surviving families of a recent tragic auto accident. The bands Hair Force One, Johnny Danger, Bad Daze and Ground Crew will perform during the Eckenrod & Miller Benefit, taking place on Sunday evening, January 30 at Burgi’s Roundhouse in Greenwood. The show will run from 6 to 10 PM, and donation at the door will be $5, with proceeds helping out the children of Andrea Eckenrod, who died along with three others in the December 12th car accident near Pinecroft; and the child of Jennifer Miller, who survived the accident. Donations can also be made at any M&T bank location under the name “Eckenrod & Miller Benefit.”
New Year’s Eve marked the end of the road for Centre County party rockers Vent. The group played their final show on New Year’s Eve at the Alley Popper near Houtzdale, ending a nearly 5-year run.
The band Without Zerb was not without drummer for long. Former Silver Sunday and current Rik Golden Band drummer Todd Harshbarger takes over the drum kit for Without Zerb; replacing Steve Bidoli, who left at year’s end to fill Half Tempted’s drum vacancy. Todd started his tour of duty with Without Zerb on New Year’s night at Altoona’s Belmar Hotel.
Singer Brant Levi has parted ways with Centre County modern rockers Voodoo Bullet. The parting was friendly; the group intends to continue on as a four-piece.
The Hawks are searching for a new keyboard player to replace Tim Bodt, who is leaving the group to play closer to his home base of Dubois. Tim will continue to play selected dates with the group until a replacement is found.
