Updating Crossfire-radio.com

Post by CrossFireMistress »

Dj fire (the Owner of crossfire-radio.com) is trying to update alot of things on the station. When it came to the bands he was trying to organize the web page a bit better. With the time that Dj fire doesn't have he was going through all the links from all the bands. One right after the other kept on leading him to Myspace. Well, even with having a new computer myspace kept on freezing up or giving the tabbed pages kind of a hick-up. So of course if you are trying to continue to do something to help someone and to make something easier and you can't do it cause of it hicking up your going to get rather perturbed.

Well, he got LOTS of perturbed so to say. He went and took all the bands out of our system. Only because no bands update us, they think we have tons of time to go through all of them and update our selves. bands don't interact, we have listeners that love them and want to hear more from them. Meaning, we had a section in our forum to tell people where they would be and what they were doing. We have a gallery for them to post pictures. Plus we have a video section for them to add video. We know unsigned artist have other jobs then just the band they have but if you leave something you made with someone and expect to be "promoted" then you would think that you would keep update or interact a little. We had bands with no sites anymore, bands broke up, no newer music and so on..

Well, after all that said.. All bands need to go to www.crossfire-radio.com and go to the left side links under bands (read the info then click where it says "click here") and re put in all the info and resend all music you want played and promoted. We will not except myspace pages anymore. and please keep updated with us, because we do this for you for free!!

I have not used Crossfire-radio as of yet but I will sign up now. Is there a way we can help you make it easier other than keeping things updated? If you need volunteers of some sort I would be willing to kick in and try to make it easier for you all. Thanks for keeping it going!

Congratulations on getting rid of MySpace links. If a band can't even get a website, they shouldn't be a band.

Domain name: ~$9/yr
Web hosting: ~$5/mo

Total cost: ~$70 or so a year

Seriously?

Thank you "bfoust" & "TheBMC"

BMC I thank you so much for stepping up and wanting to help. Since Dj Fire is basically going through the whole website he is kind of jumbled at the moment. So not sure what you can kick in and help with as of right now. One thing is maybe get bands (promote the station to them)to come sign up. I HATE not having bands on the station, because that's what crossfire-radio was made for. It was made for having the music played how it was made ( no censoring editing which that golden rule on CFR was made for the unsigned artists). Plus getting the bands heard world wide. Even though we play main stream music and all genres is only to keep the listeners so that they may hear the unsigned music. Plus bands can tell the fans they have about us and the fans can go and request the bands music. So all the bands have to do is read, fill out a form, wait for e-mail (which might go into spam folder) and send in the stuff.

On another note. not trying to be rude to any band that's out in band land but since we are starting over again with the bands we will be listening to each band that signs up. If the music sounds terrible we wont play it/take it. If they re sign up with other tracks that sound better we will take them, so it isn't like we are pushing bands away.

bfoust OMG I know if it is fast, easy and they think lots of people are checking them out (because of adding friends on myspace, you really don't know who cares and who doesn't), most will jump on that. With a real website or even a message board for a band it shows you are serious and care. plus some places you can get it free or cheaper then that.

thank you two for the positive replies.

well as in for the bands we just want everyone one of them to keep in contact. it don't have to be a every day thing or a every week thing, it could be a once a month thing. like knowing if they changed websites, made new tracks or CD's, if the band split up or got a new member. heck a monthly schedule would be great! LOL sometimes when i did use myspace bands were even getting as bad as to send me a message to grab the music off myspace when they should be sending it in so we would keep organized. then if you replied for them to send it in and why they got upset. Then i would just sit back and shake my head and say out loud " We are doing this for free why do they expect us to bend over backwards". Plus, most the bands if they told us they were in a contest we would promote the crap out of them to win or get somewhere on the top.

lol ok enough about that. i'm done blabbing lol. :D[/u]

There is even "Free" hosting all around the internet... Just some ads and a subdomain... Myspace is just terrible since they changed it.. I removed CrossFire-Radios myspace page sometime last year, as barely anyone was using it anymore...

There are all kinds of places on the internet where bands can create webpages for little or no cost at all.. Now granted Rockpage is more of a "PA" band website. But even Ron has a place on here where bands can create free webpages.

I could even make a band a simple website.. with band info and schedules. Even creating a page on Facebook is smoother than Myspace lol

I have noticed more and more bands going with only myspace or facebook pages. I do some web design work on the side and find more and more bands and bars that just say oh we dont need a web site we have a facebook page. Everyone assumes that anyone who is on the internet uses facebook but this is not true at all so you are cutting out a ton of fans.

Plus I have seen too often a page being put up but that is it. It is never updated with dates or photos or anything. I know most bands have day jobs so a site is just something else to keep up with. That is why I think it is a good idea to have at least a basic website. Most people would be suprised if they ask around how cheaply someone can do the basics for them.

Eventually people will catch on how bad myspace is getting anymore... This is pretty much a brand new computer lots of memory and great processor, and I get lagged out trying to load any myspace page.

Basic websites are a breeze to create... I would do it for about $5.00 per band. Or even a donation to the station would be sufficient.

But we had to change things around because it was getting real bad for our list of bands we had... we had over 200+ unsigned bands listed on the station, and maybe 3 of them kept us updated.

Started going through them couple days ago, and we kept getting "no page" or a myspace page would take like 10 mins to load. Or a page on myspace that wasnt even the same band name or some other person. Or bands that dont exist anymore.

now granted some bands that are no longer together out there have really good music and our listeners like to request them. 4 Days dirty for instance. We still get people requesting them. And well a "few" bands just sounded terrible lol and people would tune out when we played them.

Its pretty much doing a "fresh" start and getting newer bands and getting updates from bands we played and still exist and still want their music played.
