In my early radio days at WFBG-AM, I had a female listener "stalker" who used to call the request line and play Teena Marie's "Lovergirl" through the phone to me. This chick was scary, so I declined her offer. When I spurned her advances, she called my boss and tried to get me fired. True story.

That's a great story, Jim. I bet you have many more. Maybe you should publish them...

I used to play Word Up by Cameo back in the late 80s and early 90s with the band Axis and it always packed the dancefloor. It was completely different than anything else the band did since we were a rock cover band but it worked out great every gig. Being a bass player, it was the only song I got to play funky slap and pop bass lines.songsmith wrote:Oh man, Lovergirl has an awesome Rick James-ish groove! I bet it's a kick to play. I always wanted to try You Dropped A Bomb On Me (Gap Band?), Word Up (Cameo), and Back In Love Again (Sanford Townshend?). Those songs have grooves that just sound fun to play.--->JMS
