HOMEGROWN ROCKER 11/28/10 (THE TAKEN)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 28 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during football season on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to our guests this week, Harrisburg area rockers The Taken (www.myspace.com/takenrocks1). We met the band members and learned the group’s history, and heard recorded tracks from their 4-song EP. The group also brought acoustic instruments and played two songs live! Along the way, we updated “Local Music News,” reviewed LoveHateThing’s The Disco Killer CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and with the group’s former drummer, Tony Pichler, in the studio, broke out a 1995 song by Loud Silence for a “Local Music Flashback.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

SYNESTHESIA – “Sweet Rhapsody”
INSIDE OUT – “Demons Inside”
THE TAKEN – “Parallel”
SCORCHED – “Frozen Inside”
THE TAKEN – “Through the Pain”
GANISTER – “Saving Grace”
THE TAKEN – “Suffocate” (performed live on the air)

HOUR TWO:

TOP DEAD CENTER – “Worker’s Creed”
SOLEGION – “My Monster”
THE TAKEN – “Toxic Beautiful”
LOVEHATETHING – “Sex on the Brain”
THE TAKEN – “Broken” (performed live on the air)
LOUD SILENCE – “Only Son” (1995, Local Music Flashback)
THE TAKEN – “Hate Within”

With the Pittsburgh Steelers again in action next Sunday night when they take on the Baltimore Ravens, there will not be a “Homegrown Rocker” program next week. Instead, the show will return on December 12 when our guests will be Brookville-based audiovisual specialists Ten Till [Destiny]. We’ll meet the band members and learn their story, get inside their visual spectacle live show, and hear recorded tracks from them. We’ll also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archives for a “Local Music Flashback,” and review another new local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Ten Till [Destiny] on the “Homegrown Rocker” when the show returns December 12!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

DEC. 5 – (NO SHOW DUE TO STEELERS FOOTBALL)
DEC. 12 – TEN TILL [DESTINY]
DEC. 19 – CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
DEC. 26 – 2010 YEAR IN REVIEW SPECIAL, PART 1
