Where Did the Anti-War Movement Go?

Post by Banned »

There were thousands of posts against the Mid East Wars when Bush was president. We are still at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, why are there no anti war threads on RP anymore? When young Americans die because Obama keeps them there its OK?

Anti-war protests are not only missing on RP, but in the country as a whole. What spell has this current president cast over the anti-war protesters?

I definitely prefer vintage fenders to newer fenders. Newer fenders sound like turds. Discuss.
Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.

I was designing a fender the other day. Boy was it sweet. It was an HSS model that was olympic white in color, it also had a maple fret board with mother of pearl stars in it. It also had a american flag pick guard, and a big mother of pearl star near the butt of the tremolo. I named it "Ole' Glory" ..

Here is the pick guard I chose for it...

Looking at that thing made me want to play shine you crazy so bad !

I am still against the war that was started by a president who went after the wrong guy. Obama clearly stated time and time again during the elections that the war against the people who were actually involved in 9/11 was in Afganistan. He has withdrawn most troops from Iraq. He is setting up a plan to get out of Afganistan.

The "withdrawal" is a big lie. There are still 50,000 fully armed US troops still there, and still dying in Iraq. Where are the anti war protesters?

The last combat brigade left (in August I think). The 50,000 are there for support and training.

Joe, I want them out too. On the good side, if McCain was President there would be thousands and thousands MORE there.

PASTE:

Seven civilians and two Iraqi soldiers died when a firefight broke out as US and Iraqi troops tried to nab a top Al-Qaeda leader in Fallujah on September 15. Overall, 18 people died across the country that day.

Meanwhile, seven US soldiers died in September, though only two in "hostile" actions, bringing to 4,424 the number of American troops to have died in Iraq since the 2003 invasion to oust Saddam Hussein, according to an AFP tally based on independent website www.icasualties.org.

The two US soldiers were killed when an Iraqi comrade gunned them down following an argument on a local military base while the American troops were visiting on September 8.

The United States declared an official end to combat operations on September 1, though American troops can still fire their weapons in self-defence and conduct joint counter-terror operations with their Iraqi counterparts.

American fatalities:

Year US
2003 486
2004 849
2005 846
2006 822
2007 904
2008 314
2009 149
2010 57
Total 4427

This is why there are no "anti-war" threads. Cause it all turns into a bullshit argument between Bill and Joe (or Bill and Frank, or Bill and Scott) about who's politics are right, and I'm guessing that most of us are frickin' sick of it. I know I am.

Perhaps someone could explain why people who don't like political threads open them, read them and post/bitch in them.

And if you open it by mistake, why do you read them ?

Honestly I don't get it. If I don't like a thread I don't open it, read it, then post to bitch that it's there.

I still believe Fender to be one of the best guitars ever made. There is nothing in the guitar world that says American made like an American made Strat ..

I really, really, really wish Fender offered a 5 string version of the Aereodyne Jazz Bass.

Vender Amps are awesome! No switches or knobs whatsoever. Just an input for your guitar. Revolutionary new technology!! 6 advanced mindtone algorithms that knows what you want to sound like before you do and dials it in automatically.

Their flagship amp is THE BIG V and is loaded with 16 two inch Celestion Groundshaker speakers!!!

Go Vender!!!

Nope...I actually kicked the habit about 10 years ago and just had one laying around collecting dust that just happened to be worth 6 times what I paid for it new!

I pretty much always supported the Afghanistan thing, if you look it up. I never supported Iraq, but the cons here did, strenuously... if you didn't like the war, you didn't support our brave troops, remember that?
I have a young friend there right now, he's a computer-guy, and basically says the Iraqi's are only killing one another mostly, though occasionally we get caught up in a suicide bomb. If we simply packed up and left right now, the Iranians would drive right up to the front door of the palace and walk in. Kinda like Vietnam. Bush's Vietnam.
One could try and gin up another anti-Obama thread, I suppose, but you'd then have to admit that Obama said he'd pull combat troops out of Iraq, then did. Kinda hard to spin it any other way.
BTW, anyone catch my joke on Facebook? I just got my Tea party Halloween costume: a grey wig, a misspelled protest sign, and a pocketful of corporate money. --->youknowwho

A pull out is not defined by many as 50,000 armed troops (who are still getting wounded and dying). The regiments that did leave just went to Afghanistan. Are they looking for Bin Ladin's corpse?

The point of the post was to show that all of the anti war protesters (particularly here on RP) were in reality anti Bush protesters, pretending to be against war. This new administration is still having Americans fight, get wounded and die in the Middle East. But there is complete silence! It must be OK when young US troops die when Obama is president.

This is one of the reasons many democrats are upset with Obama.

Funny, I'm noticing dead silence regarding the downward spiral of Tea Party candidates. Nothing about witchery, handcuffing reporters, racist remarks ("some of you look Asian to me"), homophobic remarks ("homosexuality is not a viable choice"), head-stomping, a $140 million-dollar "self-financed" campaign, Nazi re-enactment, reality-show for a would-be prez candidate, and a CBS?Newsweek poll that finds Tea Party approval ratings at a loooooow 20% (Obama stands at 44%). Incidentally, in the cases of all the aforementioned whackitude, the TP'er candidate in question is not a shoe-in, in fact many are down double-digits.
Oh, and yesterday's Rally Against Douchery outdrew Beck's nearly 3-to-1. If you don't see a backlash by now, you should stick to the Rent Is Too Damn High Party, your chances will be better.--->JMS
