Our band Represent the Lie is currently searching for a lead guitar player interested in jamming tunes from bands like Breaking Ben, Tool, Seether, 3 Days Grace, Slipknot, etc. We're a local band based in the State College/Altoona area. We play all over Pennsylvania and have established awesome connections over the past 2 years. We practice once every other week in either Altoona or Lewistown (you'll learn more about how we handle practice below.) Our future goals are to continue our roots as a cover band, but slowly expand into more originals as we grow. You can check out our most recent original, "On the Inside" on www.myspace.com/representthelie We've decided to continue booking/playing as a four piece so we're not looking to just jam someone into the band; the position will remain open until the right candidate is found.
What we're looking for specifically:
- someone that is as dedicated as the rest of the band. Our members are 100% dedicated to seeing just how far we can take this project. I cannot emphasize that enough.
- someone that is able to consistantly play difficult leads ie: slipknot, pantera, metallica, etc. This is not a start up project, so we need someone that can come in, learn quickly, and rock out on stage with quality tone and awesome stage presense.
- someone that has professional gear and their own transportation - we travel all over central Pa - playing about 2-3, sometimes 4 gigs per month, and have even thought about visiting some out of state venues in Maryland, New York, and West Virginia.
- Someone willing to practice - as a band we usually hold practice every other week - using the off week to learn 2 or 3 songs individually. We then come to practice prepared and ready to work out the little kinks of those songs; we do not "learn" songs at practice. The majority of the time at practice is dedicated to going over new songs we've already learned at home and writing original material. We take turns practicing at either Altoona or Lewistion (both very nice practice areas) and we're big fans of car-pooling so don't let distance scare you.
- Finally, ORIGINAL material - we're looking to continue our roots as a cover band - but slowly merge into more originals - perhaps even put out a CD or 2 - there really is no limit - we want to take this as far as we can. The musicians we have are extremely motivated and talented, and now we're looking for the final piece of the puzzle; are you it?
