Music Trivia - Name this song VI, Tough one..

Post by f.sciarrillo »

Ok. This can be a little hard, so we will see where it goes. Time to test that knowledge you all have. I know some one here can get this one. I wouldn't be surprised if some one guesses it right away :)

I am thinking of a song: This song came out in 1975, it was also the name of the album that it appeared on. It was conceived from a famous baseball player from the early 1900 and scandal that he was involved in. Can you tell me the name of the song, who performed it. Also, can you name the ball player and what the scandal was ..

I will give you a hint to start off with - The Artist was British and he didn't have another hit till the mid 80's.

In fact, as a bonus. Name the other hit he had :)

Not sure the name of the song or the album...however, I am thinking it is Shoeless Joe Jackson and the 1909 Black Sock Scandal and I believe it was done by Billy Goerdt. As for the other...no idea

It was about Shoeless Joe Jackson and the black sox scandal - It wasn't done by Billy Goerdt, though. Great Guess. You are so close. All we need now is the name of the song and artist .. :)

Murray Head....
was the voice of Judas on the 1971 album for Jesus Christ Superstar (lead vox on the song of the same name reached #27 I think that year)
had the 1975 song "Say it ain't so" (joe) (i.e. Shoeless Joe Jackson) off the same albm. His hit in the 80's was One Night In Bangkok (Thailand) from the album "Chess" (also a concept album from a Broadway play).

I should at least get something for answering half the question...at least a bean or two!

Ian Gillan of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath was the voice of Jesus on the Jesus Christ Superstar Soundtrack album.
